The church taught that the Earth was a globe, but argued that the Sun revolved around it. The real question at issue was the size of the Earth, not its shape. Columbus thought the globe was small enough to reach China and the east by a relatively short voyage, while others correctly argued that the Earth was too large for such a voyage to be practical. They were right, but Columbus found America rather than Asia. Columbus did not prove the Earth was round, and no one feared sailing off the edge. You see fundie the eath is flat BS was a myth perpuated by Washington Irving in 1828. Why is that fundies alway mix up myth with fact,The earth was flat myth is equivalent to the Washington Cherry tree fable.I wish for once fundies would use the search engine that there ISP provided for them .Then they wouldst sound so stupid all the time.. ,But if that was the case then they wouldn't be fundies at all would they .

M-777 Howitzer crews in the US Army/Marines - in calculating where the 155mm round lands (especially via info from the Forward Observation Post) - take into account wind speed, air temperature, and curvature of the Earth, to ensure accuracy of the rounds fired. To omit any one of these factors in their calculations, and it's guaranteed that they'd miss the target.

Now, taking into account what Magellan - as did the ancient Greeks (who calculated & determined that the Earth was spherical way before Christianity even existed) - discovered, and whose facts are used to this day by the US military, who is the liar: the 21st Century US Army/Marines (& thus the US DoD as a whole), with their military science, or God?

ColuMbus claimed that Earth was rather small and he sailed to China/India. Everyone knew, even then, that the Earth was a sphere. They just didn't know how large it was, and whether the Sun orbited us or we orbited the Sun.

It's religions, myths and fairy tales that are supporting our presuppositions. Science is powerful in following the evidence.

I have colleagues that have traveled around the world, and came back to where they started. They never saw an edge.

The three that made what? All looked the other way while their mates disappeared over the edge? Forgot to turn off the coffee machine and went back, and when they returned the two other ships were gone? What?

So, what were the names of these unfortunate vessels?

You certaintly don't want to be swallowed by monsters at the edge of the Earth, so it's better to stay home, travelling is dangerous like that. Worse, you might encounter a false Christian, a pagan or an atheist. Also, when you enter the bed to sleep, make sure to jump in quickly and to not let limbs out: an under-bed demon is likely to grab it and eat it. And make sure that it's before 19h, or else, beware the croquemitaine/bogeyman!

Street speed limits are a false demonic conspiracy and when people die in accidents it's never related to speed, but demons, who possess people and make them twist their head 360 degrees. Only demonic doctors part of the conspiracy to prevent our godly magical limbs to naturally regrow pretend otherwise.

If Elon Musk really wanted to do something good for humanity, for once, he could offer free short space elevator rides to crackpots who need to discover that the Earth is not flat... But would they accept to try? Would they really believe what they see, or claim that they only saw a 3D simulation on a screen?

Of course, all of this is a joke, because we don't need to go in space to assess that and total alienation crackpots will continue to push their nonsense anyway.

Diagnosis: Alienation, cult control manipulation, fabulations, misdirection, confused priorities, misused time, pseudohistory, confusion of mythology with reality.

Prescription: Accept to learn, open mind, get an education, get a life. Learn the distinction between claim of evidence and evidence. Stop to gullibly swallow everything those who want to manipulate you say. Tell them to stop once. If they don't, hang with other people. If they reject you for that, it's a blessing, invite them to escape their little bubble and let them rot in misery. When they're ready, they might follow your path to sanity and knowledge, and discover that you're not sacrificing cute little kittens in worship to Satan, just for knowing that the Earth is an oblate spheroid.
