What Robertson did not hesitate to speak about was his strong faith in Jesus Christ.

He rejected the secular society created by Supreme Court decisions he interpreted as an attack on religion.

“We threw God out of the schools. We threw God out of the courthouses,” Robertson said, in a speech that featured quotes from several Founding Fathers, including George Washington, John Adams and James Madison.

“Separation of church and state? I’m telling you right [now] what our Founding Fathers said and it doesn’t sound like separating God Almighty from the United States of America. It’s a lie. You remove the Bible out of schools, it was said more 200 years ago, and you are going to be wasting so much time punishing criminals. Education is useless without the Bible. Take the Bible out of schools and there’s going to be an explosion of crime."

For more than 40 years, a host of irresponsible and self-serving religious and political leaders, abetted by sloppy reporting by the news media, have convinced many Americans that the Supreme Court won’t let Johnny pray in the “godless public schools.”

Nonsense. The Court has never outlawed prayer or banned religion from public schools. Students always have been and are today free to pray in public schools alone or in groups, as long as their prayers don’t disrupt the school or interfere with the rights of others.

There is absolutely nothing in the Constitution that keeps Johnny from saying grace at lunch, asking for divine help before the math quiz, forming a prayer club, or gathering around the flagpole to pray with classmates.

You wouldn’t know this, by the way, from reading some of the local newspapers. Articles described this as “an order against any prayer or promotion of religion in schools.” No mention was made of the myriad ways students are free to pray and share their faith while in school.

Here’s the truth about God in public schools: There is more student religious expression in public schools today than at any time in the past one hundred years. Students are forming hundreds of religious clubs (mostly Christian), handing out religious literature, praying with their friends, speaking up about their beliefs in class, and in many other ways expressing their faith during the school day. So much for the godless public school.

We don't, for example, keep the feast of weeks, nor do we offer our first born livestock to Yahweh. Seriously, look up the actual Ten Commandments that actually went into the Ark of the Covenant.

I especially like the one about not seething a kid in its mother's milk. These people want to post their precious 10 rules everywhere, I say let them - but put up the original ones so everybody can see how ridiculous they are.
I know, they'd either not read them anyway, or say it's all liberal atheist lies, but I think all people should know what they really are. Especially here in America, where dumbing down has become a science.

Wow... heh heh. Ibuki's glad that she stopped watching that show a long time ago. This is just getting embarrassing now.

The weird thing about these far-right people claiming that the Constitution was created to make America a Christian nation is that the entire argument doesn't make sense on any level. The Founding Fathers weren't even Christian. For the most part, they were Deists. They put in the part about freedom of religion because they didn't want a national religion like the church of England, which was a big reason why the original colonists left to make their own country in the first place.

Ibuki finds it funny how the people that claim that they are the only ones defending the constitution are the first to try to stomp all over it. Or she finds it sad. She can't really decide.

I suppose that's why crime rates are steadily dropping as people drift ever further away from ancient mythology in their private lives and the nation's laws becomes more secular. Funny, too, how so many of those who've carried out the worst atrocities in the last few decades cited the Abrahamic god as their inspiration to commit those acts. It's almost as if you're so full of bullshit that you could bring greenery back to even the deepest reaches of the Sahara.

And I'd advise rethinking your stance on the constitution since the day is coming when it'll be just about the only solid wall standing between your religion and the prohibitions upon preaching your bile that you've been predicting will come "any day now" for the last century.

If you test the claim that the US constitutional amendments are based on the 10 commandments by actually reading both lists of 10, the test already fails on the first item of each list. You don't even need to make all 100 comparisons of each item from the two lists of 10 cross referenced. It fails on the FIRST check.

Item 1 on one list says you can't establish any official religion. Item 1 on the other list says the only god you're allowed to follow is Yahweh. These aren't just slightly incompatible. They're saying exactly opposed things.

The only way it could possibly be "based on" the 10 commandments was if they were using the 10 commandments as a negative guide: "Let's be sure NOT to design the laws this way".

The people who promote the myth are not ignorant. They're not stupid. They're just outright liars. It is not humanly possible to be that stupid and still succeed in putting on your shoes in the morning. They know they're lying, and they're doing it for political gain, so fuck them.

Yep, just what the Republican Party needs is more religion. What a fucking dumbass. Maybe if they were to follow Jesus' teachings closely, like giving to the poor, not accumulating wealth, and not judging people, but that's not what you had in mind, is it?

If you really want to turn the Republican Party around, tell them to drop their staunch opposition to abortion, gay rights, religious freedom, helping the poor, and immigration reform.

The prohibition will be strongest when the group is nervous. The irony of Galileo's situation was that he got in trouble for repeating Copernicus's ideas. Copernicus himself didn't. In fact, Copernicus was a canon of a cathedral, and dedicated his book to the pope. But by Galileo's time the church was in the throes of the Counter-Reformation and was much more worried about unorthodox ideas.

We're there. We're experimenting a slide of power, a change of hands, and those who are seeing their power sliding from their hands are especially unhappy. That's why they get more & more agressive. They feel threatened, yet still have many nuisance capacity.

And yet a group has to be powerful enough to enforce a taboo. Coprophiles, as of this writing, don't seem to be numerous or energetic enough to have had their interests promoted to a lifestyle.
