I just saw this movie "Hairspray", and I was absolutely disgusted that such a movie can come out of a Christian Nation like America. But, I suppose when it is funded by a cabal of Scientologists and Jews that one can only expect yet another attack against real Biblical Values.
The "daughter" of a homosexual "couple" through song and dance, encourages Americans and blacks to have relationships. This culminates in the charecter played by Amanda Bynes having sexual relations with some black gutter youth. This was particularly distressing, watching this beutiful young actress throw away both her career and her respectability on for a "PC" screen roll. Surely she can never be tahen seriously as an actress again, and obviously she has blown all chance of ever attracting a respectable husband after being tainted, and on screen too!
Then there is the continual, disgusting portrayal of Christopher Walken and John Revolta as a homsexual couple, with Walken as the "butch" and Revolta as the cross dressing transexual "bitc4", all in an attempt to promote such grossly un-biblical behaviours as acceptible!
I welcome hearing the views of other clean thinking Christian folk to express their outrage at yet another blow against wholesome values.

Wait, does this fool think that Jon Travolta (Revolta, lol) was playing a male character?
Oh yeah, this also belongs in RSTDT (although fundies and racists do seem to go hand in hand).
And here I thought it was atheists who were evil and intolerant.
Ah well, maybe next time we'll get it right.
Either a really bad poe or this asshat didn't understand a damn thing about the movie. Racist, intolerant, bullshit, either way.
RSTDT?
"I welcome hearing the views of other clean thinking Christian folk..."
I suppose you wouldn't want to hear from someone who would disagree with you, expose you to new ideas, and perhaps make you think.
Holy shit, it's a trifecta. Fundie, racist, and mentions the "cabal of Scientologists and Jews". This guy is also showing a classic example of a persecution complex.
@Tom S. Fox: It's a film of a broadway musical based on an earlier 1988 John Waters film. Even in the original film, this particular female character has been played by a male. It's a drag role played up for the humor. Though from what I hear, Travolta chose to play this role more-or-less straight rather than the usual joke.
* Disclaimer: Have not seen Hairspray in any of its incarnations, nor am I familiar with any of the music. I'm just well-read.
"I just saw this movie "Hairspray", and I was absolutely disgusted that such a movie can come out of a Christian Nation like America."
AMERICA IS NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION, YOU DUMB FUCK!!!!!!!!
"The "daughter" of a homosexual "couple" through song and dance, encourages Americans and blacks to have relationships."
1.) it's a COMEDY!!! YOU PEOPLE NEED TO LIGHTEN UP! john travolta was just playing the role of a woman! you think that everyone in shakespeare's plays were gay because women's roles were played by men?
2.) newsflash: AMERICANS CAN BE BLACK. fucking racist. the whole premise of the movie was essentially the civil rights movement! and i must admit, that black guy was really hot. i'm soo jealous of amanda bynes.

i thought they had quite good chemistry actually
i sincerely hope this is a poe.
And I bet "HexenHammer" didn't leave a second early or demand a refund.
IF YOU THINK A MOVIE HAS BEEN MISREPRESENTED AND OFFENDS YOUR VALUES? WALK OUT AND DEMAND A REFUND. IF YOU KNOW THE MOVIE WILL OFFEND YOU? DON'T GO SEE IT!
Oh shove it with the bloody "American Values" BS. America has become a place where the only values that seem to mean anything these days, are violence, money, sex and scientology. And those go hand in hand very well, with the rest of the retard fundies.
Now if only more Americans would at least stop paying money to go see, or listen to, anyone out of that cashcult.
Don't worry HexenHammer. We were all disgusted by that horrible remake. The original writer/director was not given any artistic input and it wound up as a mockery of everything the original stood for. The director of the original is a man named John Waters, he's a devout Christian and very much a man of conservative white Christian values. You'd like his films very much I think.
Hairspray wasn't his best movie anyway, instead you should watch ...
1) Pink flamingos. A lovingly made documentary movie about the average white Christian American family. One particular family run an animal shelter and during shooting of the film are taking care of a group of flamingos that were harmed at a minority children's show that (unsurprisingly) got out of hand. The movie is very much about how they bring healing to the lives of these animals through love and faith in the lord Jesus Christ. A heartwarming film for the whole family.
2) Female trouble. The movie is something of a stern warning to young girls not to be too rebellious and to follow the path God has laid out for them as a help meet for their husband. It's shot in the manner of an after school special and I must admit can get pretty racy. At one point one of the characters smokes a marijuana cigarette but the message is very much that this is the wrong thing to do. You know how it is, sometimes to teach our children good Christian values we must sometimes show them shocking things.
Both of these movies are available to buy or rent at any good video store. Give them a chance, I know you will like them.
So I was I, Hex, so was I. I thought it would be tougher, less PC, modern, more prickly, sharper, you know. Something like what Deadwood did for the Western genre.
What I got was usual bland offering Hollywood has been churning out lately. I wanted something like Rome, instead I got National Lampoon.
Oh yeah, this also belongs in RSTDT
I believe the sequence of priority for a quote, reflecting the potential danger to society and general disgust evoked, goes:
1: Fundie
2: Racist
3: Conspiracy
That is, a post only gets put on the highest board on that list that it qualifies for. Fundie trumps racist, so it shows up here.
I'm surprised she didn't comment on the treatment of the hardcore fundie mother in the film. You'd think something like that would set them off for pages on end.
And I'd also like to say that I'd still marry Ms Bynes, and I'm headed off to Law School soon, for whatever respectability that's worth.
It's John TRavolta.
This is not a christian nation; have you ever heard of Brokeback Mountain? Your ideas regarding christianity have no connection to hollywood or movies made for entertainment.
The rest of your rants prove nothing more than your bigotry and selfishness. The movie, at its core, makes fun of asshats like you and your ignorance. It shows how people can go beyond superficial ideas and be people.
It is apparent you'd rather live in your bubble, so please, go back inside and don't subject the rest of the world to your idiocy.
Is America a Christian nation or founded by Cabalist and Scientiologists and Jews?. Make up your mind.
And as far as I'm concerned, interracial marriage is not forbidden, in America or in the Bible(remember Ziphora?)
This movie was a blow against my values too. I can't believe John Waters allowed them to do a remake, much less, with Travolta.
Where do I bring my picket sign?
For the love of gawd, keep them away from "Cry Baby".
Obviously this idiot failed to notice that John Travolta was playing a woman. Of course if he had he'd probably be bitching about crossdressing being evil.
Also, HexenHammer, you are a racist prick. Go shove your head in a meat grinder.
If this isn't POE then FSM help us all.
And, was I wrong in thinking that John Travolta's character was simply a homely woman, not a man in drag? Did I miss something?
A) They're not supposed to be gay. Travolta is actually supposed to be a woman, you ding bat.
B) Part of what makes this country great is that white people aren't the only Americans\
C) Most of the rest of the nation doesn't care that Bynes danced with and dated a black guy (who was hot) in a movie. Nor would they care if she did in real life. She hasn't been tainted and her career will be fine.
Hahaha....hold on, let me wipe the tears from my eyes!! *giggle*
*whisper*
What, you mean they're serious about this? Trevolta's character's name is EDINA...and she gave birth to their daughter....sounds like Trevolta is playing the part of a woman! Oh, but wait, anyone who knew anything about the musical would know that the part of the mother has traditionally been played by a man. Besides, you only get a "John" feeling when they're doing "Welcome to the 60's" and he starts dancing. It's the only time that I remembered the part was played by a man (because I kept seeing him as Danny in Grease, lol).
christopher walken plays a married gay dude? i thought this movie looked stupid, now i need to see it.
i like... keanu's... sausage... to eat
walken owns all your asses
Poe? If not then you are racist, and need to read a history book. Plus Treaty of Tripoli. Also Shakespeare had men play women. So in a play like Much Ado About Nothing, the romance between male and female characters was played out by 2 men.
I just saw this movie "Hairspray", and I was absolutely disgusted that such a movie can come out of a Christian Nation like America.
You haven't seen "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" yet, have you?
encourages Americans and blacks to have relationships.
I wasn't aware "blacks" were not americans.
she has blown all chance of ever attracting a respectable husband after being tainted, and on screen too!
African and black men can be responsable husbands too.
beutiful, tahen, John Revolta

EDIT: WTF is wrong with CARM?
"encourages Americans and blacks "
Because African Americans are secretly Canadian.
Srsly, your racism is showing.
*sigh* America is NOT a christian nation!!
i'm not american and even I know that!!
also, it was a comedic movie based on a fictional story!
please die.......PLEASE!!
Confused?
