The few times any economic stuff has come up, there have been regulars on both sides of the mini-debate.
Now, I agree, not many social conservatives would hang out here. But we're not all anti-Christian. I'm not. I don't hate fundies, much less regular Christians - I just hate it when they try to enforce their views on everyone else (particularly when their views are without any evidence at best and total lunacy at worst).
This post was made in response to a quick autobiography I posted to introduce myself as both a lifelong registered Republican -AND- FSTDT member, actually.
Just for the record, how many of y'all remember any of my rants on here about the welfare state, socialized medicine, etc.? Would you say that I qualify as a Conservative?
Anyway. I've been posting over there for about a week now, and aside from Herr Doktor occasionally taking a shot at me as a clueless atheist troll (hell, one out of three ain't bad, right?), I haven't had too many problems, outside of the thread that post came from.
Yes, there's some straight-up morons over there, but there's also quite a number of civil, polite, friendly, non-retarded people there. And there's quite a few who read our site and find plenty of humor in it. :D
I am a bigtime fiscal conservative. I am socially liberal so I don;'t toe the line with republicans, but I am registered as one. If anyone remembers there were a couple posts where I didn't think they counted as fundyism just because they were anti-socialized medicine.
I love the logic that assumes because one doesn't like fundamentalist religions that one can't have other conservative values.

You just described yourself as a Libertarian .

Another Libertarian ideologe.
We , Conservatives think shitdick Libertarians who mostly believe in Abortion and Atheism will go to Hell just Like the Liberals . so fuck u
Hell, Yahweh, he DID call me ugly! Trolls are ugly knobbly looking things! I still haven't felt an urge to go to church, though ...
***** and ///// not only seem to have trouble grasping the concept of fiscally conservative it seems they also have no clue what a libertarian is. I love the fact that according to our Free Conservative poster you not only have to pick the right religion, but also the right political party to get to heaven.
I can see it now. "I'm sorry I know you believed Christ died for you sins, but thats not enough, It say hear you didn;t vote for Bush, I just can't let you into heaven."

No Mr. *, he didn't descibe himself as a libertarian. If you actually took the time to, I don't know, READ THE COMMENT, you will notice that Jesse didn't say what position he took on the issues on which he ranted.
I can't put it better than the Wikipedia page: "Bigotry is not just intolerance, but rather extreme and unreasonable intolerance." I would hardly say that lampooning a subset of Christians who say things you disagree with is bigotry. I hope the majority of folks who read this web site would fight for folks to have the right to say all of the things that are quoted on this page. I strongly support Mr or Ms Republican_Legion's right to accuse anybody associated with this site of being bigoted or evil or whatever else he or she believes the readers of this site. However, supporting that RIGHT doesn't mean that I agree with what is being said or support it.
And when exactly did the word "your" become an acceptable substitute for "you are"? Did I miss some sort of memo?
Jesse, my dear, you're my favourite conservative ever.
one day, someone might be able to explain to my what on earth about being "conservative" is a good thing. Like, what the hell are you conserving that's so worth it?
TDR-
It's not really so much about conserving anything, per se. It simply means that we're afraid of change. :)
No, actually ... my version of it is about personal responsibility, individual freedoms, and how the Constitution set up a government which SHOULD act to protect those.
It shouldn't have a damn thing to do with forcing your beliefs and such on anyone else. For me it's about believing in what YOU want to believe, because the Constitution ensures that you've got the right to.
That's funny. I'm a fiscal conservative and, in some ways, a social conservative. I'm even a Christian. I just get a lot of enjoyment out of reading some of the ridiculous things some people out there preach in the name of Christ.
Hee, Jesse, he can't imagine you might have a faceted personality. I'll vouch for you as a conservative, and a regular FSTDT poster. (I thought you were a troll for a second, but nope!)
I don't hate regular Xians, like I don't hate regular Muslims or regular pagans, or regular feminists, or regular environmentalists etcetera. Its the fundies of them all I can't stand - the ones who are so hateful, bigoted and pig-ignorant that all they can do is stand on the fringes and foam at the mouth. You will find that the vast majority of quotes on here are from those people and their followers. I don't know why Xian fundies are the biggest source of the stupid/ignorant/hateful quotes, but they are certainly doing their best to undermine their own religion.
And since when did being a regular of a certain forum have any effect on who you are IRL?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
