[In response to a science article describing the atmospheric "haze" on Saturn's moon Titan as resembling the atmosphere theorized for the early Earth, possibly providing nourishment for early life forms.]
In a way, they are saying God did it. The haxe they are speaking of closely resembles the 'filament' that surrounded the Earth before the Great Flood.

In no way are they saying Goddidit, you freaking moron. There has never been a "filament" around earth, there has never been a Great (global) Flood, and there is no God. Idiot.

The firmament didn't go away after the Flood. It's mentioned in Psalms 19 and 150, and numerous times in Ezekiel. The ancients thought the Earth was a kind of snow globe with a transparent dome holding back water (hence the blue color of the sky). They thought it became cloudy from time to time, which was a sign that it was going to start leaking (rain).

See, this is why we have to stop that global warming stuff as quickly as we can; God will look at the earth, see that the filament is burned out, and replace it with a whole new one.

In the beginning, God said, "Let there be light"... And he flicked a switch and electricity pulsed through the filament, causing both light and the seas to boil.

I wonder which of these birch was referring to?

For those who haven't figured it out, "haxe" = "haze," apparently. What's a couple of letters' difference in the alphabet between friends?

I don't know, David. I think maybe he meant hacks (to make banal or hackneyed with indiscriminate use). After all, god is erratic and unpredictable in all he made so perhaps, as another fundie pointed out, he made mistakes. And after a few tries, got it close enough. Filament, fermament .. they sound the same if you say them quickly or, if you're hearing those deific voices booming in your head.

The word you're after is "firmament".
