Irrelevant since you are fallaciously linking scale with existence of.
People are alienated and perform actions around that alienation. This leads to the loss of species which is significant but more importantly real
Secondly God is portrayed once again in your piece as a psychological crutch for the needy.
That certainly is not the picture gleaned from the biographies of at least Christian and Jewish converts to God.
Your objection on this score is therefore blown somewhat and is itself an act of wilful ignorance.

"That certainly is not the picture gleaned from the biographies of at least Christian and Jewish converts to God. "
But those converts are delusional, so the picture is fallacious.
God IS a psychological crutch. I've heard many people say and read many post in which people say they couldn't get through their day without God. And yet I go through my entire day without thinking about God or calling on him to fix whatever problems I might have. No, instead I find ways to fix my own problems.
"Christian and Jewish converts to God" = people who already had god, converted to god? Does not compute. Except that those might well already be the needy, and there's no reason to suppose that they would recognize that characteristic in themselves.
I, on the other hand, have no questions about the existence of. I use (shall we just call it "dot"?) ...I use dot at the end of every sentence, and dot has never failed me yet. I firmly believe in dot. I don't know about the scale of dot, though. "As big as it needs to be", perhaps. Thanks be to dot.
Most preachers looking to convert people to Christianity use fear above all else: 'Love a god you may never so much as sense, or burn in Hell forever because god is love...and god is also his own father. If that doesn't make sense, it's because god is also mysterious (but not at all the author of confusion).'
I'm not an atheist, and this kind of shit still irritates me.

...of...what?
People are alienated and perform actions around that alienation.
That's why there are cliques in school.

Last I looked, I was still human.
Secondly God is portrayed once again in your piece as a psychological crutch for the needy.
...and?
That certainly is not the picture gleaned from the biographies of at least Christian and Jewish converts to God.
What about the non-christian or gentiles who don't believe in your god...or any god? Have you asked lately how those people feel alienated by the likes of...say...people like you? Again, that's why there are cliques.
Your objection on this score is therefore blown somewhat and is itself an act of wilful ignorance.
Yeah...about this whole willful ignorance thing...
People are alienated and perform actions around that alienation. This leads to the loss of species which is significant but more importantly real
Is this guy seriously implying that alienation from belief in god (presumably, judging from his other submission) is the reason behind plants and animals going extinct?

Don't knock psychological crutches. Being a psychological crutch does not mean either that it doesn't exist or that it doesn't provide real benefit. I couldn't get through my day without knowing that I had the money to pay the bills and that I probably won't starve to death when I'm old.
@ Doubting Thomas

That means God is a psychological crutch for them. It doesn't mean that God is universally a psychological crutch.
@ Hasan Prishtina
I would say there are two sorts of crutches at work here. One has to do with how you live your life (what you describe) the other is about finding a purpose to your life (i.e. you live your life for a reason). That second sort of crutches is problematic, IMO, because you alienate (hey, that word again...) your capacity to decide for yourself by putting something higher than your own existence.
If your existence only makes sense because of your devotion to a god, then you have a problem - and the rest of society does too on the day people decide that their god demands something of the community.
Confused?
