The first few years of Hitler were good times, lots of nationalism and camaraderie, Obama can't even pull that one off, it was Hitler's last years when things got ugly; we don't want to risk any of that with an Obama 2.0; it's time to vote him out before it gets as bad as the Hitler days. Many, including the media, never contended with others who claimed Bush was a Hitler or even the Antichrist.

"Many, including the media, never contended with others who claimed Bush was a Hitler or even the Antichrist. "
The first was true, so why would the media contend with it?
The second was a load of crap. Nobody believes the antchrist is real except you fundies, and you never called Dumbya the antichrist, so there was nothing to contend with.
So, to get this straight, Buzzardhut is saying that Obama is exactly like Hitler because he's done nothing similar to what Hitler has done...
I smell burnt toast. I think this one gave me a stroke.
What you want America to become is closer to what Hitler wanted for the world than anything Obama has done so far.
Just admit that you don't like Obama because he's not a reactionary WASP like you are and get it out of your system.
"Many, including the media, never contended with others who claimed Bush was a Hitler or even the Antichrist "
That's because there were only a very tiny number of people making those comparisons. I know the right has rewritten history to believe that such comparisons were all over the left but they really weren't and they were nowhere near as widespread as the comparison of Obama to Hitler.
Many, including the media, never contended with others who claimed Bush was a Hitler or even the Antichrist.
Apparently you've forgotten the period from 1992 to 2000, when preachers and other small-minded types on AM talk radio speculated daily that Clinton might be the antichrist, or at least in cahoots with the antichrist.
...it's time to vote him out
As I recall, three years or so ago the Raptureites were claiming the USA had seen its final election, that Obama would declare himself 'President for Life'.
So... he's not bad yet, but we need to vote him out just in case he gets as bad as Hitler?
I'm actually surprised Buzzardnuts actually allowed the original question to be posted and didn't delete it. The short time I posted on RR, many of my posts were deleted even though I said more innocuous things than this.
Wait, the pre-war Hitler years were GOOD?
I mean, I know you people love nationalism, militarism, persecution of communists, trade unionists, religious minorities, gays, foreigners, oppression of women and so on, but...
Meh. This is typical lately. Anyone that desires to bring about change is Hitler. Anyone they don't like is Hitler. Anyone that causes them to swallow bigotry is a Marxist. Anyone that wants to have freedom from religion is Socialist. Commies are those people who want secular government and schools. It's all the same, if it isn't the gays, liberals, or some other "fringe group" they define; someone has got to go down as being More Evil Than Evil (tm).
Holy shit. Everytime I look at that forum, I get chills. These are scary, stupid fucking useless ignorant bigots. I find it funny cause this is the same shitbag that got all upset about someone claiming it to be a Earth-Centered Universe. You can tell he's pissed when there's no animated smiley faces facepalming.
I never liked Bush and I wouldn't compare him to Hitler.
To start with, he's just not that bright. (And Hitler was no genius himself.)
The first few years of Hitler were good times
Yeah, arresting thousands of political opponents was a big laugh, not to mention the anti-Jewish pogroms.
Burning down the synagogues was loads of fun.

Just think of all the camaraderie the SA men had!
Obama can't even pull that one off
So what you're saying is that Obama can't even get started doing what Hitler did, but in his second term he'll be sending millions of Americans to death camps?
@checkmate : Obama is simultaneously the weakest, most ineffectual leader in the history of the United States of America, and the cleverest, most brutal dictator since Stalin. He's a milquetoast and a dictator, a jihadist Muslim communist fascist Nazi black radical Christian anti-theist atheist, and a genius and master of human manipulation who still can't tie his shoes. It all depends on who collapses his wave function.
So when asked to give a valid comparison between Hitler and Obama you predictably failed.
No surprise here, move along.
"The first few years of Hitler were good times, lots of nationalism and camaraderie"
:o
Kristallnacht anyone? Night of the long knives?
"good times, lots of nationalism and camaraderie "
...apart if you happened to be a political opponent(communist, socialist, etc), a non aryan (Jew,Gypsie, etc), or another kind of undesirable (homeless, jobless, gay (yes,I know that you're not schreding tears on them)), in which case you will be spending good times of camaraderie being in the nearest concentration camp or beaten up or killed by Adolf's brownshirted pals (even if they happened to be your Party comrades ).
I willnot comment on the habitual rubbish (Antechrist accusations, Godwin point) that you deverse upon Obama's (Democrats/moderate Republicans) predecessors.
Edit: the comment I posted yesterday have not been published. Sorry if this result in a double post.
1. I generally find it hard to get angry at someone who is so stupid/crazy that they don't realize fascism and communism are polar opposites but Buzz is so nasty the general rule doesn't apply.
2. What Buzz calls "nationalism and camaraderie" was actually xenophobia and bigotry. No wonder he praises Hitler's early years. Buzz and the Raptards (New band name!) are just like the Nazis.
3. I haven't personally called Bush either "Hitler" or "Antichrist". I do, however, call him a war criminal. Arguably the worst war criminal in American history.
"The first few years of Hitler were good times, lots of nationalism and camaraderie"
Oh thank you, THANK YOU Buzzardnuts for giving me the final clinching proof that all you right-wing Fundamental ist Christians - without exception = Nazis.
--EDIT--
@nazani14
Now why am I reminded of the control device for that huge 40mm cannon (loaded with DU rounds) in the remake of "Day of the Jackal"?
Man, I have missed Buzzardhut, I thought maybe he was raptured and no one realized it.
Yes, Nazi Germany, lots of good times, nationalism, camaraderie and killing jews.
@shax
That was incredibly witty and very funny. I'm gonna quote you on that one.
@Buzzardhut
Uh, good times?! One example of them being fucked up from the very beginning was the whole revenge on Hugo Eckener/Zeppelin company takeover fiasco which led to the Hindenburg disaster.
Also, I'm pretty sure that they were racist against Jews pretty much from the get-go.
Remembering Hitler. *sigh*
Good times, good times.

But he vas chust folloving orders. Remember Unca Dick.
Given that Obama has been calling for the US to be more friendly to the outside world, I have a hard time comparing him to Hitler. In fact, if I were to pick a candidate who is all for increasing our military strength and striking fear into the hearts of our enemies, and is all about American exceptionalism it would have to be Romney.
I will not, however, go so far as to compare Romney to Hitler (he's more into money, I think, than he is into ruling the world).
Oh this is were I really hate being German, it makes you know shit like German history.
Ok, let's try this calmly,
"The first few years of Hitler were good times, lots of nationalism and camaraderie, Obama can't even pull that one off,"
No. As soon as Hitler came to power, civil rights were suspended, you lost your right to speak your mind, to practice some religions (but not all), some forms of music were outlawed ("nigger music" like Jazz), and most important of all, people started to disappear, now granted you wouldn't agree with most of those who got disappeared like Communists and Social Democrats (if you know the difference), but still, if people dissappear, that's bad. You know why Obama "can't even pull that off"? COUSE OBAMA ISN'T HITLER! The man barely qualifies as social democrat.
And no, neither is Bush - Bush is way to stupid to plan anything as well as Hitler did. Probably equal amounts of hate in them though.
i would say having armed men round people up and force them to live in ghettos is alot closer to agreeing to a bunch of stupid taxcuts that allowed corporations to make vast quantities of money, thereby keeping it out of the hands of the common people and from being used to repair and maintain essential infrastructure(which pretty much resulted in everybody being forced to live in ghettos anyway[because everywhere that rich people do not see is pretty much a ghetto now], not just a select group), than it is to repealing aforementioned tax cuts and installing a healthcare system that does not require that you a)have been in absolutely perfect health up until this time and b)gives you access to hospitals when and if you need them.
Ducking the question again.
Many, including the media, never contended with others who claimed Bush was a Hitler or even the Antichrist
That's because, contrary to the right's revisionist history, they were a very, very tiny minority.
Confused?
