Isaac Newton made a list of the contradictions, for the purpose of resolving them, he never did. But that's why he's an intelligent Christian and Fundamentalists can't lay to claim to him as a kindred soul. He admitted the contradictions existed, as did C.S.Lewis and all modern Biblical scholars.
You can't deny them and claim you've read the Bible.
So... did Judas Iscariot toss his blood money back at the Pharisees and hang himself, as the gospel of Matthew says?
Or did he buy a farm with that money and then one day fell over and somehow explode his guts all over the place, like in Acts?
Your move.
You may now commence laughing at the village idiot.
There's a commandment in there not to kill people; aside from brides who are not virgins on their wedding night, disobedient children, adulterers, poisoners etc.
Well, unlike your straw-cartoon, the rest of we Atheists have read your Bible. Properly .
And for you, Adam Fnord: that's the problem .
Because we have read the Bible, thus we know there's contradictions. Besides, how do you know if - least of all claim - there aren't any contradictions in the Bible: if you have read it?
I read that horrible book. In Three different translations.
The more I read it, the more flagrant the errors were.
How did Judas die?
Jesus last words?
Were man and woman created simultaneously or was woman born from man's rib thus man existed first?
Also explain something Adam. Why is it non Christians often know your Bible better than you or other Christians? I'll let you ponder that
Well, if you try to take it literally and not as multiple stories by multiple authors who mostly never met each other rather than literal word of god, then yes, the bible contradicts itself hundreds of times. It's not the point of the bible to be absolute truth, not even for a christian. In the context of our religion you have to interpret it, look at its historical context, be aware of the good, the bad and the obsolete etc. Otherwise you will just get an illogical mess.
-Were Adam & Eve created before or after the other animals?
-When was Eve created: simultaneously with Adam or after him?
Answers:
There're no wrong answers because Genesis takes both positions in both cases. That's your first internal inconsistency on the first fucking page, to say nothing of the already numerous inconsistencies with reality up to that point (photosynthetic life before there was a sun, calling the moon a light in the same manner as the sun, etc.).
Speaking personally, one of the reasons I am no longer Christian, and am now an atheist, is because I HAVE studied the Bible. When I actually sat down and tried to read the damn thing, beginning to end, I quickly found contradictions, starting with the fact Genesis chapters 1 & 2 tell two different, contradictory stories about the supposed creation of the Earth (some Christians try to explain this in various ways, but those explanations are weak, at best). The contradictions I found, combined with the fact that the God of the Bible is actually depicted as a bloodthirsty, despotic tyrant in His own Holy Text convinced me that God probably doesn't actually exist, but, if He does, is not someone actually worthy of worship.
I am reminded of that wonderful study that found atheists to have the best knowledge of the bible when compared to other religions, followed by Jews and then Mormons.

As I like to say:
People who read the bible a little become moderates.
People who read the bible a lot become fundamentalists.
People who read the bible properly become atheists.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
