Poe's law is that when you don't have a CLEAR indicator of sarcasm, such as a smilie, it's nigh impossible to differentiate from authentic fundie ravings.
@GigaGuess, thanks for the explanation. Considering the absurdity of some of the remarks labeled as POE, I thought that might be the case. Then again, one can never underestimate another person's potential for stupidity.
When violence is involved, and it's not a defensive measure, yes it leans toward extremism. It doesn't go all the way, but it doesn't help your case. It IS thuggish though. Now slot off.

And that's the thing about Poe's Law. It's virtually impossible to tell, without a clear indicator whether it's sarcasm, or a serious asshole/nutjob even in the extreme cases, without a clear tell, which brings us to the dark side of Poe's Law. Even if s/he IS being sarcastic, even money says there's still someone out there that believes it.
You know, me and my satan worshipping friend (both atheists, but we're lumped in with Satanists... along with Buddhists, Toaists, Muslims, members of any other christian sect) got jumped by 4 fundies in Detroit outside a church back in 2005... but we were in the 1st Bn 24th Marines STA platoon and we kicked the living shit out of them...
