@Big Chicken Dinner
You are entirely incorrect about Carl Sagan (except for his being remarkably intelligent), and I suspect that you know this and have decided to troll the thread anyway. Please stop. Bearing false witness does nothing to help your stated cause of conversion.
Because it is wonderful theology, even if he himself was an agnostic, here is Sagan's own statement of his understanding of God:
"The idea that God is an oversized white male with a flowing beard who sits in the sky and tallies the fall of every sparrow is ludicrous. But if by God one means the set of physical laws that govern the universe, then clearly there is such a God. This God is emotionally unsatisfying... it does not make much sense to pray to the law of gravity."
And here is what his widow, Ann Druyan, said in an interview for Skeptical Inquirer in 2003:
"When my husband died, because he was so famous and known for not being a believer, many people would come up to meit still sometimes happensand ask me if Carl changed at the end and converted to a belief in an afterlife. They also frequently ask me if I think I will see him again. Carl faced his death with unflagging courage and never sought refuge in illusions. The tragedy was that we knew we would never see each other again. I don't ever expect to be reunited with Carl."
I do not agree with all of Sagan's beliefs (or un-beliefs), but I have to be impressed by his conviction.
