And exorcism is about CASTING OUT an evil force from a person. It's ANTI-EVIL!
That said, making a big TV spectacle out of an exorcism is really stupid.
I also doubt that it's real.
MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS ON EXORCISM....
* I'm not against such a concept and I'm open to the idea of a person being influenced by some sort of malefic energy or entity. However, it's likely very rare.
* A full-blown possession is super-super-rare and all psychiatric causes need to be ruled out, first. Mental illness is not malefic possession....it's a brain-dysfunction.
* Violent exorcisms are done by sadists and murderous nutsos and are not legit religious rites. A true exorcism wouldn't involve violence at all and the well-being of the allegedly-possessed subject's health and well-being should be a priority.
* The case of Annalese Michel was due to some Catholic priests "gone rogue". The exorcism rite was not approved by the Church and the Church has a strict policy of screening for mental illness before a full-rite exorcism can be performed.
* Even if there is no evil-whatever infecting people, a proper exorcism might be a decent way of using a placebo-effect to control whatever is messing-up the person. It's like that scene in The Exorcist when the doctor suggests the exorcism idea to Ms. O'Neill as a last-ditch treatment. Doc didn't believe Reagan was possessed by Pazuzu but he was at a loss and suggested it as a treatment using the power of suggestion to suppress Regan's self-destructive behavior.

I always though that Fluttershy (despite being a talking cartoon equine) was a total babe! And yes, I see her as a NeoPagan as well.
I can understand why some people are "cloppers" (as kooky as that is). The MLP ponies are strangely "human" and they're designed in a very attractive way. I think people subconsciously think of them as attractive women & men who happen to be quadrupedal with tails.
I tend to fantasize over the humanoid versions (not from the E.G. cartoons, mind you, but as more realistic humans)....
