"Does not affect you in any way" ...
Unless you own a business,
Which is true. You can. What cannot do is discriminate against a LGBT person, just as you can't discriminate against, women, other races, other brands of xtianity, etc. If you can't play by the rules, no one is forcing to jump in to the adult pool.
work for a business,
You can work for whoever you are qualified for. Of course, you have to follow the rules of civilized behavior and can't start screaming at your fellow co-workers.
are in the public eye, aren't in the public eye,
You can be who you want to be, public figure or no, you can say what you want to say. That said, you demonstrate to the world that you're a douche, you will pay for actions but that's part of the game. You can say what you want, others can say what they want. You don't like gays? Fine. Maybe your employer or your customers don't like bigoted homophobes.
speak and breathe - you can and will be personally targeted with the loss of your job,
I guess it depends on the circumstance. You can bigoted at your work place all you want. You just can't let that effect your work or your co-workers. YOu start protesting in the breakroom, handing out Chick tracts, etc. most employers will show you the door.
Also, if your job calls for you to interact with the public in position of authority - doctor, nurse, fireman or the police - and you refuse to do your job based on a bias: race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation - you damn well should be fired.
public browbeating,
There is no rule that says you have to open your mouth and show the world what an asshole you are. You can keep silent and just let people wonder. But, if you do hope your piehole - well, otrhers have the same right as you to express themselves, welcome to Freedom of Speech
and sued into oblivion and bankruptcy

a supporter of traditional marriage.
For some reason, I can see you making these claims about inter-racial marriage, desegregation, prohibition, women's suffrage or even slavery.
