Why do atheists have a visceral hatred of fictional literature? Why do they want to ban all non-science books?
I can understand their prejudice against the bible, but really destroying all abstract and fictional works in favor of only science related materials is crazy!
I love Shakespeare, but it's fiction! Now atheists want to replace Shakespeare with "Somatic Growth" of the human fetus...
Atheists, WTF is your problem that you have to rob the joy and imagination from our society?

The problem is the bible queers insisting that their stupid book trumps all other literature -- historical, scientific, and artistic.
Fail on Shakespeare, btw.
ATCG motifs, plasmids, operons, lend me your bases.
I come to methylate DNA, not to restrict it
There are more Fundies named 'Steve' who have a problem with fiction than all the atheists who have any problem. Admittedly, the fictional tomes called 'Holy Books' pose us some problems, but only because of those who class them as 'non-fiction'.
He/she's probably talking about Richard Dawkins, and for him the accusations are true.
EDIT:Whoops, I just reread the quote. They aren't true. On the other hand Dawkins does disapprove and discourage children reading fantasy.
Hey #876218
You're an idiot.
I can assure you that Dawkins does not speak for Percy Q. Shun.
On the other hand, you're still a fucking idiot.
Athies have no problem whatsoever with fiction, and, in fact, greatly enjoy it. The problem is, YOU ASSHATS MISTAKE FICTION FOR FACT.
I love fiction. I've got CS Lewis' Ransom Trilogy on my bookshelf. Just looking around, I can also see the Complete Works of both Shakespare and Lewis Carroll, the Wheel of Time series, the Recluce series, the Dune books, some Tolkien, Narnia. Hitchhiker's Guide, Dirk Gently, L'Engle's Time Quartet...
And the Bible.
Isaac Asimov & Arthur C. Clarke are very curious about your assertion. As, I'm sure, are Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. Oh, and Carl Sagan. And Philip Pullmann. And the myriad other atheist fiction writers.
Such as, say, myself.
Behold, a mighty dragon!
Dude, it's a pig!
Well, it could be dragon...
Yeah, if pigs had scales, could fly and breathe fire, they'd be as good as dragons.
Um... I love fiction. I have a lot of fiction books, as well as a lot of non-fiction books. Knowing something is untrue doesn't deter from my enjoyment of it. Oh, and don't tell me what I like and dislike, ass.
"Why do atheists have a visceral hatred of fictional literature?"
We don't
"Why do they want to ban all non-science books? "

What?

WTH are you talking about?
"Atheists, WTF is your problem that you have to rob the joy and imagination from our society? "
Says the member of the death cult.
Atheists, WTF is your problem that you have to rob the joy and imagination from our society?
Aren't you a member of the same (broad) group who burned "Catcher in the Rye" and Harry Potter books?
Why do atheists have a visceral hatred of fictional literature
What, you mean like Harry Potter? The only fictional literature I don't like is the bible. The rest of this is fundy paranoid BS.
I'm sure the fundies would be queuing up to ban Shakespeare if they were well-read enough to realise what a delightfully scatological mind the guy had. Honestly, some of his jokes wouldn't look out of place in Viz. I regret that bad English teachers have given Shakespeare a reputation as being boring, because honestly he's anything but.
"Why do atheists have a visceral hatred of fictional literature?"
And why do fundies have a visceral haterd of factual literature? Especially that which contradicts the Bible (and can at least back up what it says with scientific facts)?
Your call, Ima Shank yu-foo
Did s/he just say the Bible was fictional?
I'm just an agnostic, but I think banning books is a giant leap towards dictatorship. Who are these atheists who want to ban fiction books? Where, why?
Poe. Has to be.
But if it isn't, atheists not trying to get rid of Shakesphere or any fictional literature. I mean, we enjoy it.
Fundies, on the other hand... Harry Potter, Narnia, and Lord of the Rings ring a bell?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
