Of the World's smartest scientists, 2/3 of them believe in God. From that data, we can clearly see that they are much smarter than the remaining 1/3 that reject the idea of God.
It's quite simple.

Either that, or that the 1/3 are the smartest of the smartest! So there!
Seriously, I'd love to see the source of that statistic. I would be willing to bet that it begins with the letter 'a' and is a rather dark place traditionally below someone's waist.
Quibbling over the 2/3 statistic would be hard, given the undefined term "smartest scientists." I'm guessing AA would move the goalposts a lot.
Even then, I can't see the point he's trying to make. Is this an argumentum ad populum? Or is he blindly asserting that the people who agree with him are right?
OK what? 2/3 my ass! -- or is that your ass! Either way it reeks somewhat.
Secondly - what data? IIIIFFFF that was the case, all you could infer was there is twice as many of them.
There is a massive and undeniable inverse correlation between intellignce and religiousity.
*** Neeedless to say, if you were smart, you'd be aware of this ***
Please cite your source. Oh right, a fundie. Believing in a "deity" or supernatural force is not the same thing as believing in the Christian god, as many of the Indian and Asian researchers I work with can tell you.
Where's that study on scientists and religion? If memory serves, physicists (the people who know the most about how our universe works) and biologists (the people who know the most about how life works) were, by far, the *least* likely to believe in any sort of God (much less the Christian one) - and the overall percentage among scientists was quite a bit lower than 2/3.
@Crosis: Last I heard, theoretical physicists were actually the subcategory of hard scientists that are the most likely to be religious. Of course, the same study found that the more brilliant (in the opinion of his peers) a physicist is, the less likely is he to be religious.
First, I'd like to dispute that statistic. I don't *know* it to be false exactly, but no source was cited. Also, I know that many scientist answer a qualified "yes" to the question "Is there a god?," but most of them do not believe in the personal god of the Fundies.
Second, it is *not* that simple. Just because you say that they believe in God does not make them in any way smarter than those who don't.

I'm not aware of any study producing those results, but one of the most famous studies, the Larson and Witham survey of 1998, states;
"Biological scientists had the lowest rate of belief (5.5% in God, 7.1% in immortality), with physicists and astronomers slightly higher (7.5% in God, 7.5% in immortality)."

Give me enough data, and statistically I will prove anything you want.
Almost any engineer (statistic, mathemathic, etc) knows this.
Firstly, we don't know that they are any more intelligent you knobjockey, and I really don't know what fabricated data you are looking at you smegbreath.
Secondly, this is a prime example of a) the problems of incest and b) why you shouldn't do drugs.
where do u get this false information bro?
Those are false stats u are giving there.
The truth is that its more the other way around. Only 40% might believe in some god.
The rest are atheists!
Oh, and how about worlds leading intellectuals? Noam Chomsky being the #1 Intellectual and the largest % of them are all atheists mr!
Got a source?
Thought not.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
