[regarding the women's suffrage amendment]
From the women I have seen vote and the reasons they give for doing so, it is a shame that they ever got the right.
Very seldom do women make rational decisions based upon background or articulated position. Mostly they make their decisions the same way they choose a spouse. He's cute, he dresses nicely, he has nice hair, a nice voice, or simply he's black.

Kathy30, that may be the standards by which *you* choose the people for whom you vote, but I think it's safe to say that you have no right to speak for all of any given group. The true alternative is to educate yourself about the candidates and the issues and vote. If you're not willing to do that, why not just stay home?
Please note that watching candidates' attack ads on TV is not the same as educating yourself. In fact, you should ignore just about every ad you see on TV if you actually care about the outcome of an election. And that includes the ads that support the candidate you support.
And what, in your extensive study of voting reasons, did the men give as reason for their vote?
So, what should I do at the election we have in three weeks time? None of the more than eight candidates are cute, or have nice clothes, nice hair, nice voice, and every single one of them is typical pale Swede.
Guess I have to listen to what they actually say (or check what they have done in the past.)
If Kathy30's got one, how did she choose it? Oh, this one doesn't seem to notice or care about my overwhelming stupidity, I think I'll try and bag it. If she hasn't got one yet, then I can see that that's how it's gonna be anyway.
As opposed to men who make their decision based on whether he likes guns, dresses in cheap clothes like they do or supports school prayer, "right-to-life" and other stuff the President has no power to change.
And yet all the people I've seen who say they voted for someone for superficial reasons like those Kathy has cited, voted conservative. I can't help but suspect that when all those people said they voted for GWB because he was someone they'd want to have a drink with, she thought that was wonderful.
"From the women I have seen vote and the reasons they give for doing so, it is a shame that they ever got the right.
Very seldom do women make rational decisions..."
I say the same thing about men. Case in point: The Republican party.
Nice to see a female misogynist and a closet racist. Those are as rare as an informed female voter and an uninformed male voter!
....I think I just made myself very sad...
WHAT.
I've never met a single woman who's said any of those things. The women I know voted for candidates with positions they agreed on.
In fact, the fact that you threw in being black as a reason kind of says more about you, Kathy, than it does about the average female voter.
Someone wants to self-loathingly bang Obamaaaaaaaa! I think Kathy's more pro-O than she thought.
Well I think Obama's cute, but I also think he's got decent politics.
I'm Canadian mind you, and I don't usually even know what the people I'm voting for to be my MP/MLA look like, I just vote for the person that's running for the party I like.
Hi.
You're a complete douchenozzle.
Also, interesting that you have a feminine username yet seem to be a misogynist. Either you're a guy who picked that name for some arcane reason or you hate yourself for having a vagina.
Very seldom do women make rational decisions based upon background or articulated position.
Dang right! You never see us guys supporting people like Dubya or Sarah Palin, do you? We know better. Plus we wouldn't let ourselves be influenced by a candidate's skin color (as long as it's white, of course ...)
As opposed to men, who vote for "the guy they could have a beer with." That irritates me on so many levels...
Also, until I saw the username, I thought you were a guy who was bitter over a lost woman. Are you seriously a woman calling for the end of women's suffrage?
Women like you are one of the two major reasons women's equality is so difficult to obtain (the other being that lots of males are misogynist arseholes).
When I think about weak, lazy and stupid women like yourself validating, passing on and perpetuating this moronic attitude, it makes me really mad. On behalf of my daughters, Fuck you.
What are you doing voicing an opinion? Shouldn't you be in the kitchen raising your 15 kids and making sammiches?*
*Note: I don't actually think women belong in the kitchen or should be housewives but this is clearly the kind of traditionalist attitude that Kathy30 has.
Um, do you really think women voted for Obama because he's black, and not because McCain/Palin were against abortion rights and didn't seem to give a shit about the economy? Women have jobs, too, you know.
As opposed to men, whose number one reason given for picking a candidate, according to polls, is that they pick the one they'd "most like to have a beer with" (translation--the one who doesn't sound smart enough to make them feel inadequate about their own intelligence).
Or, as opposed to ignorant right-wing women (and men), who make their picks in accordance with the lies they hear on Faux News, without ever checking out said lies with any other (legitimate) source.
Racism? Check.
Misogny? Check.
Batshit stupid? Check.
Well played, Kathy30. Well played indeed.
also: "Git yore lazy behind off tha interwebs and make me a sammich woman!
Do you really think that people, in general, vote thinking rationally?(and it´s a secret vote, by the way)
Few women are like Kathy and her sisters in FC - happily.
Kathy you are a monumental idiot. Terminally so, I fear.
Kathy30..are you seriously wanting to take the right to vote away from yourself!!!
I don't know about the US but here in Britain, many brave and courageous women fought, suffered and died for the right to vote. I'm sure it was the same in the US and you should be ashamed. When I think what these women sacrificed...... Have some pride in your sex for crying out loud.
I think Emily Pankhurst wants a word!
Ah, democracy the great level playing field, where the biggest idiot and the smartest rocket scientist are precisely equal.
Kathy may not understand but the right to vote includes the right to vote whichever way one pleases. Fortunately, the mad and the stupid are in a minority and sense more often than not prevails (although many would argue that electing Gerge W is proof of the opposite).
Hm, she's right about one thing. I chose my boyfriend because he's intelligent, honest and shares at least some of my political views. That's strangely similar to the characteristics of my political representative, except I voted for a woman.
Boo hoo hoo, people disagree with you on politics. Are you so insecure that you have to invent bullshit reasons for why they don't vote the same way as you do, instead of acknowledging that people might have thought things through and somehow arrived at a different conclusion than you did? Suck it up, you catty bitch.
"From the women I have seen vote and the reasons they give for doing so, it is a shame that they ever got the right."
From the protests, campaigns and sacrifices (in some cases, literally) to ensure that future generations of women would have not only the right to vote, but greater rights in general, it is a shame that you were even born, Kathy30.
You are therefore an insult to your gender. Please hand in your XX chromosomes and reproductive organs as you leave. Along with your brain. You certainly don't have the intelligence & reasoning faculties of a human being, least of all those of the female gender.
I chose my partner because he's an intelligent, compassionate, and principled man. I'm sorry you're an idiot, but it's just you, not all of us.
Now that FreeConservatives is closing down, let's all pause & reflect on the contributions made by their posters here.
