I'll give you the last one, but I definitely cannot give you the "equality does not exists in a legal sense." Everyone should be treated equally under the law and as we progress, that sense of equality becomes more and more real.

It could actually be argued from the gospels that women were looked upon more favorably by heaven than men were.
Women were the primary financiers of Jesus's ministry, and were also the first ones to see him after the resurrection (supposedly, I am an atheist.) And according to the gospels, they saw him and believed immediately; the men however had to be convinced that Jesus resurrected.

The greatest religious teacher I've ever personally known, and one of the most passionate preachers, has been a woman. Her teaching of the higher philosophies and spiritual comforts of the Bible were all handled with a motherly love for her students, and her sermons could rock a church so hard the steeple falls off. I invite you, sir, to tell her, her students, or her congregation that she cannot do what she feels is the call of God.

- Yes, I've been hearing this one from conservatives quite a lot lately. Material inequality is obvious, conservatives are doing their best to ensure it. Spiritual equality really depends on who you ask. As for legal equality, that is one of the great ideals of American law. Granted it is not a reality, but that hardly justifies ceasing to strive for the ideal.
Conservatives, they love American so much that they hate everything it stands for.
