That's a mighty fine line by which to define mercy - coma vs death.
According to his Myspace page, he's a 27-year-old college dropout. He's also insecure, it would seem, since he needs to rant about being Mr. Tough Guy (tm) and beating up Girly Men (tm) so that he can prove to himself that he's really a tough, strong, macho Neandertal.
For wearing eyeliner? Man, that's harsh. Lighten up, Francis. Man, I thought liberals were supposed to be the angry ones.

I don't suppose there is the slightest possibility that someone might be capable of having some political affiliation and be okay with the gay guy just going on his way without being assaulted at all?
It is possible for a guy to wear eyeliner and not be gay. Like me. I'm also not emo, by the way... I was doing it before they were born (well, most of them do seem to be about six...)
Anyway, yeah. I wear eyeliner, and I could kick this guy's ass. Not that I would.
And do time for assault and homicide. I can understand the other person's anger because of his friend, but even that is too much. Would you assault someone for looking different? And I love how one person complained about girls going for "fags" like that. I guess he should stick with the men. Homophobes are gay anyway
