When you have government controlling our healthcare like ObamaCare will be doing, you are going to have the type of healthcare that have all sorts of restrictions on what they will pay for and what they will not pay for. There are going to be shortages of doctors, nurses, hospital care in order to save money. What type of healthcare do you think you will get? The elderly will be pushed aside and will not be taken care of properly because the government will turn their backs on them and let them die. The ones with long term illnesses will be turned away and not helped either for the govertment will not pay out for such expensive healthcare. When you take away and cut back on hospital staff, doctors and so on; you will not be getting the proper healthcare that you think you will be getting when the government has your health in their hands.

Keep in mind that, in right wing world, the government rationing access to health care is bad and wrong but our friends at the health insurance company refusing to pay for life saving procedures in order to wring an extra fraction of a percentage point of profit out of their customers is just fine because it's the "free market" at work.
This is also something of a misnomer to begin with as the PPACA isn't anything close to single payer aka a "government takeover of healthcare". Right, as if we'd be lucky enough to have an actual first world healthcare scheme. Rather, in the most simple of terms, it's a framework through which the federal government will subsidize purchases of private insurance for individuals who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it. The horror!
There are some hospital administrators and health care providers bitching because payouts are going to go down somewhat thanks to an increased number of individuals who will be enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid due to eligibility expansion of those programs. The current system is unsustainable and the pain of market readjustments was going to come anyway. A few desk jockeys getting laid off and some upper management types taking their ball and going home is much preferable to the inevitable alternative.
Dear savedbygodsgrace101,
come to Europe, any European country will do. We'll show you around and we'll visit a hospital here. You will see elderly and empty beds. Many people getting treatment for almost nothing of a cost. What you won't see is doctors and insurance providers driving Ferraris, but hey, that's the price of affordable health care.
Your dearest,
Real World.
How is this any worse than what the insurance companies are doing? For a long time my wife couldn't get insurance because her medical records showed a prescription for a fertility drug, and they still denied her even though we already had a child and she wasn't on the drug any more.
And besides, didn't Jesus say something about helping the sick? I don't remember Jesus asking for payment after he healed the blind man or lepers.
I second what UHM said. Not to say that the different European health care systems do not have their own problems.
But it is rather bizarre for us to see the citizens of another Western country struggle (or even worse, fail) to pay for (even life-saving) medical services that are freely available for even the most poor members of society over here.
I hope the American public will see that “Obamacare” is not the end of the world, but simply one small step in the right direction.
To quote Wyatt Cenac from The Daily Show: “That's a third world problem. [You]'re a first world country“
Come join the rest of us. ;-)
Works well for us up here in The Great White North. And we have a lower infant mortality rate, we are healthier, we have a greater life expectancy, it costs us less, and everyone is covered, even the homeless.
In other words, your system sucks, ours is great, and you are a fucking moron. Up here you could get treatment for that.
When yo ass have posse controllin our gamecare like ObizzayCare is ghon be bustin, yo ass is goin ta have tha type of gamecare dat have all sortz of restrictions on what tha fuck they will pay fo' n' what tha fuck they aint gonna pay for. There is goin ta be shortagez of doctors, nurses, hospizitizzle care up in order ta save scrilla. What type of gamecare do yo ass think yo ass will get, biatch? Da elderly is ghon be pushed aside n' aint gonna be taken care of properly cuz tha posse will turn they backs on em n' let em die. Da ones wit long term illnesses is ghon be turned away n' not helped either fo' tha govertment aint gonna pay up fo' such expensive gamecare. When yo ass take away n' cut back on hospizitizzle staff, doctors n' so on; yo ass aint gonna be gettin tha propa gamecare dat yo ass think yo ass is ghon be gettin when tha posse has yo' game up in they hands.
"you are going to have the type of healthcare that have all sorts of restrictions on what they will pay for and what they will not pay for."
And that would be different from the current situation because...
"The elderly will be pushed aside and will not be taken care of properly because the government will turn their backs on them and let them die."
Unlike the current system of socialized medicine for the elderly...
"When you take away and cut back on hospital staff, doctors and so on; you will not be getting the proper healthcare that you think you will be getting when the government has your health in their hands."
If it goes on like this, we may end up with costs as cheap as Switzerland with infant and child mortality rates that put us in league with countries that were never in the communist bloc.
Fight for spiralling costs and a seller's market: anything less is unAmerican.
There are shortages and waiting lists here in Britain with the National Health Service, but no-one is turned away or left to die. A more significant problem is the monetization of health departments, the contracting out to private companies certain jobs within hospitals, the system of making hospitals competitive.
However, this is all far superior to a system where only wealthy people can be healthy. The argument here is that with a universal health care system, health care must be rationed. It is, but it's rationed much more strictly in a profit-based health care system, by wealth. In the light of the enormous amounts of money concentrated in America, most of it generated by ordinary working people, this is not only unjust, but immoral.
When government mandates auto insurance, we will no longer have mechanics, dealerships, auto parts stores, body shops. Transmissions will be rationed ... Sorry I was drifting off into la la land.
I think we are beyond PRATT and up to PRAMT (Point Refuted A Million Times) with this one, since, in a ddition to everything else, fact check websites regularly debunk this.
"When you have government controlling our healthcare like ObamaCare will be doing, you are going to have the type of healthcare that have all sorts of restrictions on what they will pay for and what they will not pay for. "
The government will not be controlling healthcare, there is no single payer. The ACA is essentially a massive handout to private insurance companies. Insurance companies who "have all sorts of restrictions on what they will pay for and what they will not pay for."
At least they did until the ACA ended that nonsense.
Next!
1) This does not happen in ANY other nation that has universal healthcare. I live in one of them (the UK) and, while there are legitimate complaints one can have with the NHS, rationing of care or a shortage of doctors are not amongst them.
2) And ObamaCare doesn't do any of that. It just requires you to buy health insurance from the same insurance cartels you have been dealing with for years and provides subsidies for those too poor to afford them.
Confused?
