When I was a young atheist, I enjoyed being counter-establishment. Nowadays, there are tons of atheists. They are arrogant, aggressive and un-Christian.

I wouldn’t want to be part of the current establishment of atheists. At least I was a sensitive, polite atheist. I didn’t bring down crosses or protest nativity scenes. I didn’t want to, Moses-like, throw down the Ten Commandments.

I wouldn’t make fun of Tim Tebow.

I want to rebel. I may join a convent of the religious just to spite the atheists.

So, you had a teenage rebellion against your fundie parents, and said you were atheist?
We're not un-Christian, any more than we are un-Muslim, and we're neither arrogant nor aggressive, we just want to be left alone and not proselytized to, thank you very much.

There's an establishment of atheists? Why didn't anyone tell me?!?

I have never brought down any crosses, or protested nativity scenes. I was even married in a church chapel and I often have a nativity scene myself (INSIDE my house of course; I don't want to push my decorations onto others).

Who's Tim Tebow and why would I make fun of him? Oh, American football. Nah, we don't really care about American football over here, we'll stick to Rest-of-the-World football.

If you want to rebel in America, dearie, you probably have to return to atheism, or turn Muslim perhaps. Staying Christian will just keep you as mainstream as possible, stupid.

If you want to see "tons of atheists" you should leave the US and come over to Europe.
Many atheists are arrogant, because they have good reason to be. Because Christian - and especially American ones - seem to be really really stubborn to proof to everybody just how stupid they are - while a probably intelligent majority facepalms and feels ashamed for people they don't even know. But, atheists are no more aggressive than their religious counterparts in that country or area, you can also come to Europe and see that.

Oh, that's your definition of polite, "not disturbing the power structre and the infringement of other people's rights". From my experience the normal atheist will be more or less as actually amicable and real polite as the religious are - in the case of America they are very much holding back.

Let me know how long you can stand living without shaving, not eating those delicious pork chops/bacon/baby-back ribs/pulled pork/burgers/shrimps etc, wearing only one type of cloth, not working on a Saturday etc etc, ad infinitum ad nauseam...?!

Because the only one you'll be 'spiting' is yourself; living without religious rules? And in doing so, telling religious clergy, preachers/pastors et al; even their 'God' where they can stick their 'morality', as we Atheists demonstrate our more than infinitely [i]superior[/i] morals? We Brits can rip the piss out - and deflate the egos - of pompous, self-aggrandising types in ways that'd make you shit yourself, Lawrence of Incompetence. Yet, we love anyone who parodies themselves (Lionel Richie even featured in a Walkers Crisps advert, with Gary Lineker, in which this huge singing star sends himself up something rotten!)

Even if his geekery (he makes no secret of being a big fan of "Spider-Man") is featured on the satirical TV panel games "Have I Got News For You" and "Mock The Week", does the Leader of the Free World care? Not a jot, it seems. And we Brits love him all the more for it.

Moral: You take yourself - certainly your 'beliefs' - too seriously, you deserve everything you get.

And - unlike Beckham, re. the 2012 London Olympics - I somehow doubt that a two-bit fundie handegg player will ever be a major player in a future bid to host an Olympics in the US. I mean, even Baseball has been included in recent games - and most of the time, the Golds in such were won by Cuba - so I doubt American Football will ever be included even as a demonstration sport.

Fact: mention the name 'David Beckham' in China, and it's guaranteed you'll get people saying (in their best English) 'Manchester United!'. Mention the name 'Tim Tebow' to the same people, and the reply you're guaranteed to get (again, in their best English): 'Who?!'

If David Beckham is 'overrated' by any definition of the word, maybe it's because... oh, I dunno... the fact that Football (as in NOT Yank Handegg) is the most popular sport on the planet, Manchester United is the most famous team (and thus worldwide brand) on the planet, and Beckham once played for Man Utd.

Even North Korea made it to the quarter finals of a World Cup (1966). Let us know when teams outside of North America can play in your 'World Series', Andy Schaftafly. Or just scared that your precious Commissioner's Trophy would end up in Fidel Castro's display cabinet?

Then you wonder why Tebow is nothing more than a joke? He deserves to be made as much fun of as the 90lb weakling manchild wish-fulfillment steroidal muscle mary parade that is WWE; at least Greco-Roman Wrestling in the Olympics is a REAL competition, and not Redneck Pantomime.

Is Boxing any the less entertaining? The healthy PPV sales of such proves the WWE wrong.
