(in the fabulous world of Noam Chimpsky, the WBC was created by Al Gore to discredit conservative Christians, and the Phelps are examples of the extreme left wing)
WBC is an invention of Al Gore and the Democrats. It was constructed as a strawman that behaves in the manner that they want all Christians to be portrayed. Not only are the Phelps' Democrats but they were extreme leftist fundraisers for the Democrat Party.
This verdict will barely put a dent in George Soros' pocketbook but you will see the leftist organizations such as the ACLU backing Phelps and they will find a Democrat judge to flush it. They will claim 1st Amendment but it will all about Democrats protecting Democrats.

Yup, the Democrats are all anti-Christian. That's why they've all been so eager to suck up to reactionary Evangelical Christians by talking loudly about how Christian they are, and how they don't really support gay rights or abortion, and really, they don't have a problem with keeping marriage as a heterosexual special right and making sure employers can fire anyone who isn't gender-conforming enough and banning almost all abortions because their Christian faith is just that strong.
Sometimes I wonder if they're living examples of trolls or poes, but, to my dismay, they're true. Of course, if you're a rabid conservative trying to apply the "non true Scotchman rule"..............
Didn't people once say that the Soviet hardline communists were "so far to the left that they wrapped around and became the extreme right"?
Is this guy saying the same thing about Phelps, but in reverse?
Phelps is a registered Democrat and has gone as far as to run for local office as a Democrat.
But then again, liberal =/= democrat in every case. Phelps is just kind of out there.
Chompsky
unless this is a joke
While Fred would admit that he once supported the Democrats and even attended some Al Gore fundraisers, he no longer does that. Al is too much of a "f*g" enabler, in the old Crypt Keepers opinion. Oh, and the WBC was assembled when Gore was in diapers, dumbass.
The World Boxing Council was invented by Al Gore?PS NOAIM CHIMPY, my relatives in Kansas are so right-wing that they think Bob Doyle is a liberal. Brownback is a liberal. Hell they thought Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms were too liberal. They will tell you that(to their disgust) Fred Phelps considers himself a true conservative, and everyone else liberals.
Amusing, but no.
ACLU have no choice but to be advocates for the crazies. That is their charter, under First Amendment auspices.
I personally like the wraparound effect, but don't think it pertains to fredphelps.
[I squashed the name together to render it distinct from any Fred, any Phelps, and the statistically inevitable number of people who share that name. Only fair, I think.]
Mister Spak:
That does seem to be how it works. That's why even though Nazi Germany was a corporate welfare state and Stalin's Russia was a batshit insane autocracy, they could still both call themselves socialist -- it really didn't matter who was doing the screwing.
As an alternate example, I would like to refer to the anti-porn wing of radical feminism, as well as a number of far-left ethnocentric thought schools. People like Catherine McKinnon have many of the same moral hangups as the extreme right; they just couch it in class warfare and misandry rather than theocratic nationalism. The anti-porn activists in particular seem to have no comprehension that someone might be able and willing to consent to allowing his or her body to be used for the sexual gratification of others, which is why third-wave feminism has such a large contingent of sex workers and educators in its ranks -- women have kinks too, just like guys.
Option A: WBC is a massive sock puppet of an even larger Democrat conspiracy to persecute and eradicate Christians.
Option B: Phelps is just batshit insane, and armed with scripture.
Mr. Occam, if you please?
