I think I will like the polygyny, but not for the reasons he wants. And I think that people should rely less on the government, but not by things he wants, just by taking responsibility for your own actions and actually doing things yourself instead of screaming that the government should do something about it.
Now, I got nothing against polygyny in principle, after all, if they like each other enough they should marry. Of course I also think that if we legalize polygyny we should legalize polyandry too just to keep things equal. This guy however, is just a sexist asshat

I certainly have nothing against legalized polygamy (it has to go both ways, asshat). But before we get to that, can we manage to get gay marriage legalized? That's going to be one hell of an easier fight.

tracer, it's more than that, it was very common practice of the day. There's a lot more stories you haven't mentioned (Rebecca and Leah etc), not to mention Leviticus and Deuteronomy actually go through the legal aspects of how you're meant to treat all your wives, and that you can't play favourites and how to juggle all the servant girls you have as sex slaves too.

If women need a husband or a father, why is it that there are more unmarried women than men, that they outlive their husbands AND they don´t remarry as often as men when they become widowers or divorce?. Moreover, why are, more or less, the same number of women and men with slightly more men than women in the world?
