Gandhi was a big hypocrit, I'm glad he didn't get to influence India more than he did. He left it in a big mess. Seperating countries based on religion, blah in my humble opinion he was an idiot who didn't follow his own ideologies. IT is because of Gandhi there is a War on Terror today.

Of course, because Ghandi was such a militant war-mongering SOB, totally unlike, say, George W. Bush and the rest of the Bush Administration.
Actually it was Britain who came up with that cockamamie. It was as insensitive naive and Imperialistic as the American "roadmap for peace". Britain's been meddling in foreign affairs of countries for even longer than the US. They started meddling in the middle East for oil before WWI. China then India for tea. The West Indies. South Africa. America. Damn that makes the founding fathers bigger pricks than Gandhi and maybe they started terrorism - or perhaps it was God with his plagues or Jesus with his anti-semitism.
Yes, let's re-unite Israel and Palestine, the Balkan States, India and Pakistan, China's already claimed Tibet. This is cool.
Julian: I think you might want to patch a little of the blame for the partition of India on Mohammed Ali Jinnah and the Muslim League, actually. Not that we don't cop for our share as well. And yes, Gandhi did oppose Partition. Vigorously.
Actually, I think it's because of the false dichotomies and inability to see from the viewpoint of others that "faith" encourages that there is a war on terror today. Well, partially at least.
See, as a non-fundie, I'm capable of concieving of multiple interrelated causative relationships. You should try it some time.
Actually, Bulcher, it was "Jai Ram," but it comes out to the same thing.
And by the way, asshat, Nehru and the baby government were the ones who made India and Pakistan. Gandhi was against it all the way through.
No, there are terrorists and the misguided, ineffective war-on-terror because of myopic, ignorant, idiots like you.
I'm not getting into that argument Caphi! Hindus say Muslims are to blame, Muslims say Hindus are to blame, Sikhs blame everybody and us Brits were able to sneak off while nobody was looking ... Whoever was responsible, it wasn't Mohandas K. Gandhi.
Well, let´s say that Jews and Arabs were expelled from Europe and Spain(for the latter), more than 1500 years ago. Let´s say that India isn´t the only country who was made with draft-liners in the past. Are you a history revisionist?
Sure, Ghandi provoked 19 Saudies, one Egyptian and two Lebanese..............wait,didn´t we mention that he was Hindu?
Eh...no.
Gandhi was against the partition plan, which split India into India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, but never managed to get his vision for India fulfilled, because Jinnah (his Muslim counterpart), realized that if India was just turned into a democracy without the partition plan, given the division between Muslims and HIndus (sadly, they ignored Sheiks), India would be dominated by the Hindus. Gandhi never gave up on the "one India" line, but the British were smart enough (just barely) to realize that was not a viable option, so they agreed with Jinnah. If Jinnah hadn't gotten his way, the violence in India today would be so much greater than the couple squabbles between India and Pakistan.
I think you're confusing Gandhi with someone else. Maybe read something besides the babble? You might learn something. Of course, I bet you think the best part of India's history was when it was ruled by the British, don't you?
Such a well thought out, lucid and carefully presented argument. Yep, you've got me convinced. (That you're an idiot, I mean).
Confused?
