Just today, another deranged atheists went into a church service today and shot someone , killing the pastor.

Terry Sedlacek was suffering from Lyme's disease and had known brain impairment and was taking several medications to combat the disease and seizures. His neighbors believed Sedlacek was mentally ill and said he would sometimes wander into the middle of the road and shout obscenities for no reason.

I'm not trying to defend the murder, but you lieing for jesus about him is just sickening. No one seems to know at this point what his beliefs were about god if any.

Nields, M.D. Am J Psychiatry 151:11, November 1994 pp.1571-1580 "....Early signs include meningitis, encephalitis, cranial neuritis, and radiculoneuropathies. Later, encephalomyelitis and encephalopathy may occur. A broad range of psychiatric reactions have been associated with Lyme disease, including paranoia, dementia, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, panic attacks, major depression, anorexia nervosa, and obsessive-compulsive disorder."

And what makes you think he was an atheist? There is absolutely no evidence that Sedlacek was an atheist, none, nada, zip. In fact the majority of churc related shooting are done by other christians, would you care to explain that?

As soon as I heard about the shooting I said "Any minute now there are going to be fundies across the internet talking about how this was a crime perpetrated by an "Angry Atheist" who hates christians for no reason." Looks like I was right, how's that for some fucking prophecy.

How? Wait... let me guess. It's because we have commited the unforgivible sin of not believing what you tell us to, not capitulating to your every whim, and not acknowledging that christians are, in fact, a superior form of human being. Am I right?

Huh? I was under the impression that they still had yet to determine what Sedlacek's motive even was, and I have yet to hear more than idle speculation about whether he was a christian or atheist or what.

Unless there's been a break in the investigation, it sounded like he was quite mentally ill - and isn't that enough of an explanation? A man was killed, his killer is completely deranged, people were wounded attempting to keep the carnage from spreading, and yet that incident's not bad enough; you have to try and find a way to pin this on people you don't like, too. Disgusting exploitation of a (presumably) good man's death? MOTHERFUCKING CHECK

"In August, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch profiled Sedlacek in an article on Lyme disease, and quoted his mother, Ruth Abernathy, as saying he began acting strangely during his junior year in high school. He seemed confused and stopped participating in activities that had interested him, she told the newspaper. She said a doctor had diagnosed Sedlacek as mentally ill before a battery of tests revealed that he had Lyme disease, according to the paper.

The newspaper reported that even years later, Sedlacek, then 26, had lesions on his brain and was taking several medications, including an anti-seizure drug."
