As I had asked in my last thread, I wanted advice on how to tell my slightly homophobic parents I'm gay I took the advice and sat them down and told them gently... My mum burst into tears and my dad got furious... He started yelling at me and hitting the table...
I left home that night and went to my friends house... I told him my parents went abroad for a week and he let me stay at his place... (He doesn't know I'm gay yet.) I'm 17 but have no source of income... I don't think my friend would let me live at his place forever...
The thing is I'm kinda worried about going home... and I don't have the money for my own place, I don't even have a job yet... So I was wondering if you guys could help me...]

Being gay isn't something people just "turn to". No matter how many fundies are told that, they refuse to show any sort of acceptance.

Most gamers have the terrible misconception that the world is black and white (reinforced by the games they played, the story lines anyways. it could also be argued that gamers believe that people have to speak with melodramatic dialogs between them) and that comic book mentality plus no education outside of crappy twitch-kiddy FPS games and shitty RPG's = a gamer-fundie. (I'm not a gamer much, by the way.)

Almost every single person on that thread managed to collectively destroy everything I believed about the changing views toward homosexuality.

Homosexuality is like taste, sounds, smells, etc. It's an attraction. Not a choice. Ever think that if "God" existed that he made homosexuals to cause equilibrium in the enviroment. There is too many people in one spot. Ponder of that for a while.

Well, I'm also sorry to hear that your contact with gamers has almost exclusively involved the less savored, intelligent, or worldly of cliques. I say clique because my experience has pointed to gamers like that being less numerous and rather holed up (kind of like fundies really, if you want to think about it).

Also, the poster is in a position that a lot of young gay people find themselves - subjected to the economic tyranny of their parents. The poster is going to have to find a family member or friend with whom he can stay. I hope everything works out for him. It's also possible that his parents' love for him might win them over.

If they can't then try and stay with a more deserving relative. The school guidance councillor suggestion seems like a good idea to me, there probably has been similar cases to yours. You know, for a group of people who oppose evolution so vigorously, I found it suprising how many of them seemed to think that having a truckload of offspring was such a noble ambition. As if producing grandchildren were the only way to make your parents proud.

I remember spending long hours struggling with the unclean temptations that Satan would throw on me, but when I got saved, I was a new person - fresh and clean.

Yeah, I admit that I shouldn't have worded my reply like that. I should've said something more encouraging like "Since homosexuality is a choice, you have the ability to repent and turn away from it. Even if your parents shun and disown you, Jesus still loves you, and He's calling your name for you to come to Him".
