I know I struggle with this. I so desperately want for a man to seek God first and then for God to put me on that man's heart and for the man to pursue me without ANY help from me!
But I admit that it is SO HARD! I fail all the time ... miserably. I think part of it is about having faith that I will be taken care of no matter what.

And this, sadly, is why I know a number of Dutiful Christians who are 30+ and still unmarried and "still waiting". Heaven forbid they do *anything* to hasten the process along like, you know, talking to someone of the opposite sex now and then. The trouble, of course, is that the men are doing the exact same thing. "If it was supposed to be her then God would *tell* me!" Yeah, because He always spells out His plan in advance. That's how it usually works, isn't it? Wait. No. It almost *never* works that way, and no, you are not so special that it will happen for you even though it doesn't happen for anybody else.
And if you wait long enough you will be too old to have kids...which is better for the rest of us, so keep going with this line of thought.
Oh, and you are suppose to do that courtship thing too. If your parents are too old to set you up and whatnot, then you weren't suppose to marry anyone and you're stuck. Good luck with that.
No help from you?
Well, that's destined for failure. No relationship, romantic or otherwise, can survive if all the effort in preserving it is left to a single member.
Take it from me. I suck at living up to my obligations in social relationships. I know what happens.
You Missed the last line of the post:
"On a side note, I don't necessarily see Christian men on the fence but more just passive. VERY passive."
Submission Fantasy Much?
She probably can't find someone because she's got a terrible personality. Or constantly talks about Jesus.
I know when a girl starts blabbing on about the Lord to me, I walk away.
Yeah, and I wish that hot, smart, friendly women would throw themselves at my feet without my having to lift a finger.
That never happens either.
Wanna know what's really depressing? I try a whole hell of a lot harder than you, and you're still probably much more successful than I am.
I'd ask you to kindly DIAF, but you haven't actually done anything 'bad', per se, so just GMBIAF (Get Mortally Burned in a Fire) instead, please.
Yet again, proof that religious nuts just want to remain blissfully clueless, defenseless children and be taken care of their whole lives; self determinism is just too scary a concept, as is a universe where there isn't some father-figure deity looking out for you. Ironic that they should be found so commonly in the United States, a country which violently threw off the restrictive paternalism of the British Empire.
In my world you have to talk to people you love, and ask if you love you back, and if you do you have sex.
I dunno who this "God" is who is supposed to hook you up.
@Syb: Sad, yet kinda funny because it's like natural selection.
This reminds me of something I was told decades ago:
After work on a Friday afternoon we planned to stop at the local watering hole on thr way home. When I mentioned it to a co-worker who was baptist, she retorted with, "No man whose lips have touched the Devil's Brew will ever touch these lips of mine!"
I was a real nice guy and said nothing. If I had said anything, it would have been, "Girl, you're barely 25 and already close to 400 lbs., aren't you expecting a lot from a guy that's sober?"
"I so desperately want for a man to seek God first and then for God to put me on that man's heart and for the man to pursue me without ANY help from me!

The good news is that this kind of failure can lead to the kind of success that she actually wants.

The men don't come to you because why buy the fundie cow when normal women are all around.
The fact is you've been brainwashed and will be a spinster virgin until death because you refuse to take responsibility for your own actions, or inaction, as the case may be.
Excellent! If we could convince all fundies to wait till God drops a mate on top of them, this insanity would be gone, verily, before this generation has passed away.
Honey. There's a word I think you need to learn: I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-C-E. Never expect anyone to take care of you but you. Including God. Because it doesn't happen. The moment you hit adolescence, you're pretty much on your own and anyone who wants you to be dependent completely on them is after something and it will end badly for you. Have fun growing up, dear.
This is one of those rare threads that actually makes me feel bad for the fundies. Even if it is all of their own doing. Then I see a post like the following:
"Christi, what you said is exactly what my girl's have been saying. My girl's are 27 and 23, and have remained faithful to the Lord. I can't figure why the Lord has yet to bring them godly husbands. Unless... His coming is at hand. Maybe that's why Christi.
"Then I have a son who is 32 and tells me "there are no godly women anymore! They all sleep around and have kids from 3 different guys by the time they get to my age!"
Clearly, the poster's son should marry both daughters. Problem solved!
You expect to get anyone without you doing anything about it? You're hopeless.
If you want a Christian husband, go to church and stop being a couch potatoe.
Ummm, a guy interested in a woman who persists despite a lack of encouragement is usually a 'stalker.'
Maybe if you started living in the 21st century you might find it easier to meet people.
wow that message board is post after post of ridiculous psychotic rambling.
men dont want to date you because you are lacking essential mental skills sought after by reasonable men who want a good mate to procreate with.
its not some gods fault.
your brain fails.
ChristiRenee has obviously not read her bible. Paul makes it very clear that it is better for Christians not to be married. He grudgingly acknowledges that, if you just have to get laid, it is better to be married than to "burn," but this is clearly a concession to the weaker members of his flock. And Paul certainly couldn't have been wrong.
Clearly your god is keeping you away from marriage because he/she/it does not want you to concede to your natural weakness. Your god doesn't want you to be distracted by a healthy human relationship (after all, your god is a jealous god, he says so himself). No, you belong to your god and no one else, and that's all there is to it.
Don't you feel better now?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
