[Advice to a woman whose son has been severely handicapped due to encephalitis he had when he was five. He has seizures and the woman believes her son is possessed by demons]
It does not say in the Bible that demons cannot posses Christians. I wish I could remember the verse, but there's one that says something about a spirit in someone after having the Holy Spirit in them. I'll explain more..
Sickness is always demon attack. Not everyone believes this, however I had "ADD" and a lump in my breast. This pastor said that ADD was a weak spirit and cast it out. He also said something similar about the lump and that's gone. It's what I believe and have been taught about sickness.
Your boy can be healed of all his sickness.
"By His stripes we are healed." That verse doesn't stutter.
Going by the logic that Jesus died so we can be healed, and the logic that sickness is in fact caused by demons.. I can't see what that could be but demons causing that.
We have power, through Jesus, to cast that out. Try to pray against it in Jesus name.
Remember, we are not battling the flesh, but of the spiritual relm.

My fundy aunt believed her youngest daughter was possessed of a demon that caused her to curse her mother, smoke, and generally raise hell. But my fundy aunt is more bat-shit crazy than any demon could ever hope to be.

Logic? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
If they try faith healing in addition to normal treatment, there's nothing particularly wrong with that. It won't help, but it won't hurt either. If they abandon real medical treatment for faith healing, though, they should be charged with child neglect.
Every time I see someone say faith is all that's needed to heal someone I get a little deader inside. Of course, that doesn't help all those who never get better because they don't GET medical help when faith doesn't work, and it's even worse when someone dies because of that.
In fact, the next time someone says "Oh, it's demonic possession!" or "You only need faith to get better!", if anything happens to the one that advice is intended for, charge the advisor with manslaughter. Along with anyone else who helped go along with it.
Listen up, you primitive screwhead! Pull your head out of your ass and notice the real world all around you. Note the effectiveness of modern medicine. Note the ineffectiveness of faith healing. Note the fact that you are contributing to what amounts to CHILD ABUSE. If you won't fact reality, FOAD and we'll send someone to care for your badly mangled children.
Nezu Chiza: I agree fully, and I share your slow soul-deadening.
I was once possessed by a demon that caused me to curse, smoke, raise hell, act all disrespectful, test all my parent's rules and limits, and generally not take anything seriously.
It was the dreaded demon "Adolescence,"
I hear that one gets a lot of us, but if you don't pay much attention to him, he goes away on his own in a few years...
Forget this quack, the mother's genius should be immortalized here:
Well at night when I pray I ask God to protect him from seizures but he would still have them. But for the last 4-5 days I have been praying for God to protect him for demonic possesions and he hasn't been having them. I can continue to pray for him every night so he doesn't have to suffer from them but how can I just get them to stop completely?
And then another statement from her a post later:
And this morning around 5am he had another episode even though I prayed for him not to have any seizures or demon possesions.
Sometimes I wonder if his initial sickness, encephalytis (which is inflammation of the brain) of unknown origin, was a demon attack because how can you explain a 5 yr old boy having so much strenght that the doctors wanted him to be medicated because they couldn't control him. God help me.
The entire thread is just more of this nonsense with the people replying saying that they can see no other answer unless a demon is involved and then offering advice. In a way, it's sad. She cannot accept that bad things just happen and so she needs to find someone or something to blame and through this explaination she thinks she can find an instant fix to her problem. On the plus side, at least she doesn't appear to be one of those nuts who would refuse medical treatment for her kid while she was going along with this fantasy.
Zadic: that scares me, honestly. This woman is too stupid to realize that prayer isn't helping . She could, easily, cause his death by not going to a doctor.
On a more humorous note, she sounds like she's kind of paranoid about doctors. The way she was talking about the docs medicating her boy made it sound like she was talking about mind control.
So you had A.D.D.in your breast? How does that work?
So the pastor said "something" about your breast that was similar to the casting out of the demon that caused your A.D.D. and the lump was gone? Did you go to the doctor at all at this time? Did chemo or surgery have anything to do with it disappearing? Was it verified by a doctor that a lump of cancerous tissue or cyst was there or was it a lump of scar tissue, or an irregularity under the skin?
"Going by the logic that Jesus died so we can be healed, and the logic that sickness is in fact caused by demons.."
So your logic is that jesus died so we could be healed instead of him getting rid of or otherwise killing those demons to begin with? Isn't god responsible for the fact that there is a devil and demons? I guess my friend was killed by a demonic blow-out on the interstate? And why is it that old people are so filled with demons? Being elderly makes you extra-evil?
I sure would hate to see the size of the demon that is causing you severe brain damage, kgirl, it's gotta be a whopper.
No Miss K Girl you are battling insanity. They always want to blame everything on the devil. We live in a world where people get sick, people battle illness and disease. Not everything is demons. I had an old Pastor years ago who said to a woman who said her hayfever was a demon and asked him to cast it out. He told her quit blaming everything on demons before you really get one.
This is all part of the sickness, to scare people into thinking they have magical powers and can fight off the spiritual world.
lolol
My dad had viral encephalitis. He was in a coma for several weeks, paralyzed on his left side for months, and later had a grand mal seizure and was on antiseizure medication for several years. I was six when he first got sick, and though I started out praying to my plastic troll dolls, I certainly did my share of Jesus-beseeching.
This isn't ADD, you pompous, ignorant jackass, and no, hitting him wouldn't have helped.
Confused?
