My father was a Moody Bible Institute graduate, and I was a Hyles-Anderson College graduate. I didn't have a problem with my father's new-evangelical roots, but he had a big problem with my fundamental Bible preaching. My father didn't like when I preached against booze. He didn't like when I hollered in the pulpit. The biggest issue between me and my father was over the exclusivity of the King James Bible. The tension eventually became so intense that we parted ways. In 2001 my father sent me a formal letter, signed by the church board of directors, notifying me that I had been removed from the board and kicked out permanently. My father had a Lutheran pastor on his church board, and also a Freemason. My father sinfully joined the Freemasons. I had been asked to join, but declined to join a known Luciferian organization. No one is right with God who is a member of Freemasonry! I have never regretted my right decision.
After I was excommunicated, the Lutheran pastor condemned me, saying sarcastically, “You and that King James Bible heresy!” I took that as a badge of honor, being persecuted for the Lord.

...and his scum... er, I mean son has a mard 24/7/365.
So sociopathic is Davey-boy now, the only time he's happy is when he has a cob-on .
That explains the problem then, Davey. You had nothing but a fundie education, were never taught critical thinking. That explains a lot...but doesn't justify some of your behaviour.
Finally, Elizabeth I was king, then James was queen.
I think it's amusing that the one thing Brother David hates most, i.e. the enlightenment and religious tolerance of our society, is the only thing that has kept him from being arrested, tortured, and executed as he would have been in the Western world prior to about 1700. There are still parts of the world he wouldn't survive in very long today.

366 in leap years.
Very few parents like it when their kids holler in the pulpit. The gut reaction is usually "NO! Go down from there THIS MINUTE! That's not a play-place, it's a grown-up-place!".
The exclusivity of the "Queen" James' Bible version is all in your head, Kiddydiddler! It's just one of many translations into many languages, all with their own agendas behind them, and all probably liked over the one coming after, by the people who are used to the "old" one. I like the Swedish Church Bible of 1917 over Bibel 2000. I think the new one sounds much to "secular" and "modern", the old one has a more beautiful language, in my ears. I don't think one of them is more TRUE than the other, though, and as I'm not Christian, though I'm still a tax-paying member, I don't think I have any say in the matter. As we don't have the originals, it's futile to fight over whose is closer to them.
It sounds like you DID have a problem with your dad's non KJV Christianity.
You think THAT is persecution? Being laughed at for loving a particular Bible version more than the actual meaning of the texts?
Allow me to "persecute" you a bit more, Kiddydiddler: Bwaaaaahaaaahaaaahaaahaaahaaa!
To someone who actually studies Biblical development, Biblical scholars, the KJV is recognized as one (only because of how many additions and denominations have added everything from political agendas to absorbing urban legends) of the worst translations.
You Dave, being a fundamentalist just cherry pick out of context and disagree with 90% of your own because you all just wing it, Fundamentalism is the laziest priesthood there is. But you're right about one thing, y'all enjoy yelling.
This expansion of Brother David's biography does, at least indirectly, shed new light on one subject which is addressed quite often here on FSTDT, i.e. his wife. Based on the rape of the child and the divorce, she's usually portayed here as some kind of saint who was an innocent victim of David's behavior. David's posting, however, shows that he was off the deep end pretty early on. So I think it's safe to assume that he was already that way when they married. Thus, seeing how his whacky brand of faith seems to absorb most of his day, his wife must have been fully aware of his views on Christianity and especially of his views on the submissive role of the wife, meaning that she was most likely less of an unsuspecting victim and more part and parcel of his craziness.
Sounds like your father came out ahead of the game.
Oh yeah; you raped a 12yr old girl, you piece of shit.
While Pop might subscribe to frumminess to some degree, at least he had sense. Not all frums are horrible people. Many are otherwise regular people who enjoy regular stuff and have regular jobs (but who just happen to have a weirdly literalist/wingnutty approach to their faith). I also think this is what explains Checkmate's point. The Ex may have been a "Holy Roller" herself but she probably didn't realize how extreme Dave was. Abusers also have a way of sucking victims in....presenting themselves as wonderful and "love-bombing" only to turn into a monster once the victim's fully-invested in the relationship or married to them.
"I took that as a badge of honor, being persecuted for the Lord."
Right, right, right. Being told 'you can't be an asshole in our church' is persecution, right up there with being nailed to a tree or being thrown to the lions.
God must be so proud of the tribulations you face. Hard to believe someone can face such a burden.
And of how you alienate everyone you're supposed to be saving...
Hyles-Anderson isn't even accredited, yet another one of its alumni is making headlines in my "great" state by stating publically that he would drown his own kids if they turned out to be gay and also comparing LBGT as a "community" to the KKK. And yeah, his quotes have been here, too, as if West Virginia doesn't have enough going against us.
I may be one of the only true Bible College, as opposed to Christian College attendees here. The kind of place that offers just a handful of majors in undergrad, all of which are supposed to be precursors to seminary, save for the implied MRS degree, where a young ladies finds a fine potential pastoral studies major and "supports" him in his career. The statement of faith and code of conduct are strict beyond imagination, but I was able to transfer those credits to a popular state university, since they were at least accountable to somebody, anybody about their academic standards. No doubt this is a bad thing to the KJV, as while there was no "official" bible version, we merely had to state what version we were using when reciting scriptures at be accurate to it, the New American Standard Bible was a clear favorite among the professors. Kind of hard to kick against the goads indefinitely. NIV, NKJV, RSV, NRSV all equally allowed, just like you were able to wear pants to the dining hall, whether they were jeans or khakis or slacks, they just couldn't be shorts. You likewise good not wear tennis shoes to church. Being clumsily worded, it was assumed we would wear dress shoes instead, but some of us went barefoot entirely and were still untouchable, because even the people running these places know it's all ridiculous. That was the most fun I had, chruch barefoot and then sitting in front of the dining hall in shorts, but not going in. Never once broke a rule, but they hated me anyway, which is why I was gone after a year.
Confused?
