Evolution is a theory in the same sense that creation is a theory. Neither have been proven through rigorous scientific method, though I would have to say that the theory of creation is winning in that category. All attempted "proofs" for evolution have fallen flat in that they can be equally explained by other theories. And judging by your tone and word choice in your blog entry I would have to hand it to you for demonstrating a clear lack of honest inquiry.

Actually, in order for Creationism to work we would need to throw out
The Theory of Gravity
Geology
Archaeology
Paleantology
The Theory of Relativity
Logic
Human Reason
Biogeography
Astophysics
I could go on but there are far too many to list. In order for Creationism to be correct we would have to throw out just about every scientific discovery in the past two thousand years.
Evolution is testable, repeatable, and documented. We have proven that both Micro and Macro evolution occur. We have documented cases of Speciation.
In short, You are an Idiot.
"Neither have been proven through rigorous scientific method"
Well in physical science, you don't really prove things, but evolution is accepted as 'factual as far as we can see'
Plus it makes a lot of sense and doesn't depend on the existence of infinitely complex higher beings who are a whole other theory unto themselves.
Evolution is a theory in the same sense that creation is a theory. Neither have been proven through rigorous scientific method, though I would have to say that the theory of creation is winning in that category.
Your Pastor has been lying to you, Ozzy.
All attempted "proofs" for evolution have fallen flat in that they can be equally explained by other theories.
"Explained" doesn't mean pulling a hypothesis out of thin air and saying "prove me wrong". That's not a theory. A theory is something supported by positive facts, not a guess that's automatically valid just because it isn't contradicted.
For example, we have a supernova that has been measured at 170,000 light years away. The observations and methodology of the calculation have been published. This contradicts the Bible, which says the universe can't be anywhere near that old. So biblical creationists say "maybe the speed of light changed" or "maybe space is warped". Fine. Show us evidence of that. Then it might be a legitimate theory. Otherwise, it's no more valid than the claim that maybe the Flying Spaghetti Monster alters our measurements.
"Evolution is a theory in the same sense that creation is a theory."
Please, for the love of your god, please look up the definition of "theory". Once you understand it, pass it along to all your ignorant creationist friends.
"Neither have been proven through rigorous scientific method, though I would have to say that the theory of creation is winning in that category."
I'd say 150 years of scientists testing evolution both in the lab and in the field would count as applying "rigorous scientific method". On the other hand, a bunch of goons writing books on topics they don't understand and aren't qualified to pontificate on so they can convince the scientifically illiterate and gullible that a collection of Bronze Age mythology is right likely wouldn't qualify as "rigorous scientific method".
"All attempted "proofs" for evolution have fallen flat in that they can be equally explained by other theories."
Just for my personal amusement, how about you explain even one of these "proofs" to us, using your own words, that has "fallen flat". Then kindly explain any other scientifically accepted theory that explains it better.
Go ahead, we're all waiting.
If you mean proven as in 100% certainty, your correct. However, if we compare the probability or likelihood of each, ToE stomps creation theory's butt.
If you go near my irony meter again, I'll stomp yours.
Actually there is a great deeal more scientific evidence for evolution. Creation assumes there is a God and searches for what the creationist deems to be to be proof of his biases. Evolution involves actual, unbiased, scientific inquiry. The theory of evolution is the best explanation for what can be observed in the natural world (when it comes to the distribution of species and genetic information). That's what differentiates a scientific theory from a guess.
Evolution: Fossils, theories, similarities in animals, ADN, ect.
Creationism: GODDIDIT
How exactly is creationsim winning?
"Evolution is a theory in the same sense that creation is a theory."
No, creationism is a theory in the same sense that John McCain is President-Elect of the United States of America.
*visions of Ozzy torn from limb to limb after the other Pharyngula commentators get their hands on him*
After a quick check, I'm satisfied he's been handed his ass on a platter.
"Evolution is a theory in the same sense that creation is a theory."
Translation: I don't understand arguments for/against either of them nor, indeed, do I understand much of anything at all so I'll dismiss them both as a "theory," similarly failing to understand what that word means in a scientific context.
Now explain what research is being done by "creation scientists", please. Hint: bad-mouthing Darwin and evolution does absolutely nothing to prove that your hypothesis has any validity.
Extra credit: learn the definition of "theory" in the scientific sense, then explain it so that all the rest of the slack-jawed creationist morons can understand it.
No, Evolution is a scientific theory. Creation is a myth with no more or less evidence than any of the other creation stories.
Evolution has been proven through rigorous scientific method; that's when it BECOMES a theory, nitwit. How about learning what a scientific theory IS, before you spout any nonsense?
Winning, how? It has no evidence, no laboratory studies, and it was laughed out of court in the Kitzmiller vs. Dover trial.
There are NO other valid theories for the process that the ToE explains, dolt.
Oh, and when did YOU do an honest inquiry into Evolution, nincompoop?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
