Born in September? Not bloody likely. According to Luke, when Jesus was born the sheps were "tending their flocks by night." The only time they did that was foaling season, which means the birth was actually in late April or May.
Which makes Jesus a Taurus. Which explains a LOT.
That and according to Matthew (which disagrees with Luke), Herod was still alive, killing all the babies in Bethlehem and all. And Herod died in March of 4BC.
Although Luke says Mary, Joe and Baby J went for the Roman Census in Judea which wasn't until 6 AD.
The only reason why Dec. 25 was chosen for christmas was the feast of Sol Invictus, the feast to the birth of Mithras, that was popular in rome.
As others already stated, it has nothing to do with Jesus (unless you claim that Mithras = Jesus which some people think and that would make christianity some form of Mithraism ;) )
"That's Entertainment Tonight for September 29th! Before we go, here's today's birthday quiz: what celeb born on this day was the Son of God and the founder of Christianity? We'll tell you, right after this!"
Comment by Antichrist: "beget means birth."
Well, he was a born again Christian then, I guess.

Um...what? When I was a fundy christian, I used to try to use biblical clues as to the dates of certain events, but I've never seen anyone say that jesus was conceived on Dec. 25. That's a new one, at least to me. No one knows when his baptism was, although I personally doubt it was in Oct. Also, there's nothing in the bible to suggest he was born anytime except during the spring, or maybe the early fall. Now for the year of his birth. He was born during the time of Herod the King, who died in 4 BC. He was also born when Quirinius was governor of Syria, whose governorship began in 6 AD. The only census mentioned in Roman histories around these times took place in 8 BC, but was only for Roman citizens. So either he was born in 6 AD, or between 4-8 BC. Either way, a birth in 2 BC doesn't fly in the face of history and archaeology. Of course, since there's no proof saying he even existed, and that all the stories about him were fabricated, then all this is pointless anyway, except to show the sheer lunacy of the fundamentalists.
Sort of like fundie spiritual spare-ribs.
A lot of work, with no meat, and very little satisfaction when finished.
One issue - specific dates. Historians are still guessing about specific birth/death dates for people up to 1,500 years later - because records are too fragmented to give such.
Other than that, meh. Overall - 2, 3 at the most.
(yawn) Oh look, a Christian making things up to make their superstitions sound more credible. I haven't seen that in, what, an hour at least.
They wore a lot of Big Hats in those days, didn't they?! [/hyper-sarcasm] X3
And thanks for admitting that you fundies have absolutely no right to celebrate Xmas, originally the pagan Winter Solstice Festival.
Spread the word.
Confused?
