@John: Yeah, that's the point of the ad in a way. I assume you've seen it too, but for the benefit of other readers, it shows a teen being bullied at school, having his locker defaced, and his family hushedly reprimanding him - all for using his left hand. It shows a form of bigotry that was once quite real, and compares it to a similar bigotry pervasive in today's society. It ends with the teen trying to write with his right hand and punching the wall left-handed in frustration, while a line something like "Can you imagine being made to feel worthless just because of the way you are? It's like this every day for gay, lesbian, bi, transgender and intersex youth." is read by the voiceover.
Personally, I have a hard time understanding how someone could react to the ad like this. Did the wingnuts at Moonbattery actually see it or just read about it?
PS - most people with HIV worldwide are hetero. By a large margin. Just as using your left hand itself is perfectly safe, gay sex is perfectly safe. Of course, if you pick up some diseased tissue samples with your bare left hand, and don't wash it thoroughly, using your left hand becomes a high-risk activity (no more high-risk than doing the same with your right hand, of course). Just like anonymous unprotected sex with anyone is a high-risk activity, regardless of their or your sex*.
*Well, as we all know, women are less likely to transmit most STIs, so dykes are generally at a lower risk than heteros or fags. Lesbianism is God's path, folks! Someone explain that to Coulter and Palin, maybe they'll shut up about teh eebils ov teh ghey.
