So, I saw a copy of a magazine called "Bite Me" in Borders today. It was promoting "vampire" lifestyle and encouraging women (and men) to dres immodestly, to believe that this was a positive thing and even to use things like ouija boards!
You do realise that vampires don't actually exist, right? Ouija boards? Did I hear someone say "ideomotor effect"?
I complained to a memeber off staff and they basically told me that these beliefs were just as valid as my own, that there was as much truth in their awful occult secion than there was in the Christianity section.
Absolutely! Though vampirism isn't exactly a religion per se, not to allow them to publish their material when you're allowed to publish yours would be tantamount to an attack on free speech. Take it in stride, fundie. Nobody likes your religion because it's useless.
I went to look, and the occult section was over double the size of the Christianity section!
Even if that is true, what difference does it make? So the vampire people printed more material. Will you get equally as offended when you learn that some musician recorded more albums than your favourite artist? It's pretty much the same thing.
Whats worse is that they had included Dawkins horrid books of lies, and they were on prominent display whereas they kept their Bibles at the back of the bottom shelf.
The book by Dawkins is an international best-seller; it's new, fresh and includes a lot of interesting material whereas your bible is 1700 years old, it's full of bullshit and condemns much of the world's population to hell. Care to make any guesses why it's on the bottom shelf?
Why is this sort of thing tolerated by society?!
Because we assume that an average person should be able to think for him/herself and make decisions that do not negatively impact on someone else. It's a free world; deal with it.
Why do people believe such demonic things can bring them any sort of good, and even claim they have more power than God?
A claim that one has more power than god is fairly useless since there is no god to compare that power to. If someone is saying that then it's probably because they're trying to stir you up.
It makes me so angry- especially when they treat the Bible like it's just "some old book".
It is.
It especially annoyed me that people allow this "vampire" magazine to be published, that people read it and attend events where they think they can become immortal or whatever.
Ah, I see where this is going. You're jaded and angry because others have more fertile imaginations than you.
I'm very tempted to find out if there is anything like that near here so I can go and hand out tracts- I used to do that outside a Goth-themed club for teenagers a few years ago.
If you do that, you will only piss people off and are very likely to be bitten and possibly attain immortality. The consequence of that is that you will never go to heaven. My advice to you is to stay away.
I worry about society today I really do.
Nah, don't bother. We're fine. We'd be better without you but such is life.
