As for the frightening flames of hell, they need not be viewed as a matter of punishment, either. After all, even earthly compost is known to produce a good deal of heat by the mere virtue of being thrown into a pile. Hell may well be nothing more than an eternal compost pile for human trash that has rendered itself useless to God by rejecting His offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Since all are fallen, we have all been standing in the long line awaiting hell at one time or another. In much the same way that the camp guards of the SS-Totenkopfverbände once reassured Jews lined up for their lethal showers, Rob Bell is now encouraging those who stand in that line to remain there calmly awaiting their eventual destination instead of urging them to repent and remove themselves from the black parade. And in doing so, he is much more aptly described as a servant of hell than as a minister of Jesus Christ.

"repent and remove themselves from the black parade"
Yes, MCR is a little overrated, but don't you think that's bit extreme?
My God, Vox Day is comparing people to trash now. Of course, this is expected of him.
As an aside, if he is going to be specific about the particular branch of the SS the concentration camp guards were in, then why didn't he write it out in full? "Schutzstaffel" is a shorter word than "Totenkopfverbände" so "SS-Totenkopfverbände" doesn't look right, aesthetically speaking. But I digress...
@ Tallyho:
Are you really British? You said "line" instead of "queue"...
Oh boy! Fundie fight! I'll get the popcorn.
"You're not worshiping God right! You're going to hell!"
"No, YOU'RE not worshiping God right. YOU'RE going to hell!"
And so on and so on, as it's been for the past 2000 years. You'd think God would set his followers straight at some point.
Hell is for human trash... not for people who brag about being Mensa members and smack women in the face to get their interest.
If it wasn't for this bloke's pedigree (look up his Dad's activities), I'd think he was a troll.
Vox isn't just a sexist, he's a misanthrope, too! Nice....NOT!
"Lethal SHOWERS"? GAS IS NOT A SHOWER, YOU BOOB!!!
Add "AntiSemite" to the chain of stupid.
It seems Vox is just spewing the stupidest stuff possible for attention, otherwise he needs to be put in "The Can" or something!
Read the entire article. The paragraphs immediately before the extract above are even more disgusting and insane than this. Vox Day is truly one of the legends of FSTDT.
@Shax
Demands unconditional obedience, any dissent or disagreement is punished by death, and requires that any non-members are exterminated. There's very little difference between Nazi's and whatever god VD worships.
Is it just me, or are VD's posts making less and less sense?
Maybe he finally had a Villainous Breakdown?
Jesus, if he ever even existed, is just as dead now as he was 2,000 years ago. Also, my imaginary friend says you're a crazy, misogynistic bastard.
I am a geek. I attend conventions, and enjoy theme parks. I am basically a professional line-waiter.
I only line up for things I'm interested in, though. Seriously. If I'm in a line, I triple-check that it's the one I think it is. Especially after that one time that I was in the wrong line for like two hours.
If there were a line for hell, and I were in it, I'd know.
What Vox Day is basically saying is that Christians shouldn't bother spreading the "Word" or being missionaries or "witnessing", they should just cross the moat, pull up the draw bridge, and let those not in Christ become fodder for Hell.
As far as I know, that puts him in direct contradiction to the Bible.
Nonetheless, strangely enough, although for totally different reasons than he mentions, I agree with him. I think the Christians should leave everybody alone.
In fact, I think about him much the way he thinks about me. If he wants to be an absolute fool and make a laughing stock of himself, I'm certainly not going to waste my breath stopping him. Not him, and not any other Christian.
I don't want them to convert me and I'm not going to convert them. There's a good saying I once heard: "you can't unfuck the whole world" and I'd much rather spend my time helping people who really need help and not some foolish christard.
I dont agree with Rob bell either, but calling humans trash is a bit much. If god is perfect, then so are god;s creations. Oh wait, christians are just nuts.
Hell may well be nothing more than an eternal compost pile for human trash that has rendered itself useless to God by rejecting His offer of salvation through Jesus Christ.
You don't know what a compost pile actually does, do you? Being digested for eternity doesn't sound like fun to me.
@checkmate
"What Vox Day is basically saying is that Christians shouldn't bother spreading the "Word" or being missionaries or "witnessing"
And he should have stopped at that point, then his argument would have some semblance of credibility left.
All other fundies, I'm looking at you . Ever hear of something called 'advertising'? It basically says 'Here I am! If you want what we're offering, write/phone/fax/e-mail/Twitter @...:' and all that jazz. The phrase 'Don't call us, we'll call you ' exists for a reason.
The Quakers & Unitarian Universalists has it. Do you?
Compost makes great, life giving, eco-friendly fertilizer! Thanks for destroying your own analogy, Voxypants!
"As for the frightening flames of hell, they need not be viewed as a matter of punishment, either. "
More like a myth for the dismally stupid.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
