If you don't believe in God or Christ then keep your opinion to yourself, don't start a war telling Christians what they believe is false, its absurd.

Hmm, let me try another version:

"If you believe in God or Christ then keep your opinion to yourself, don't start a war telling everyone else what they believe is false, its absurd."

Hmmm, much more believable now.
Well, I happen to be a Christian, so I'm not really qualified to respond to this, but I have several athiest friends.
I called up Patrick and asked him what his response was. He said "We will if you will."
Then don't preach at non-Christians then.
The Subaru Telescope people called, they have expressed interest in buying that mirror you have there. So bright and shiny!
And that's just it. If you don't like it, shut up.
I can't stand that attitude. My parents have friends, one of whom is a hopeless email forwarder. A lot of the posts he sends along have that attitude -- "Forward if you agree, delete if you don't". They don't want dissent.
But I'm preaching to the choir, aren't I?
"... what they believe is false, its absurd."
So, is that belief in any god, or just yours?
Do pagans get more than one opinion, and the Jews, Christians, and Muslims only get one?
Do agnostics only get to have vague ideas?
There's a guy at my gym who's a big Prison Planet fan. He seems fairly normal until he starts talking about all his wacky conspiracy theories. This past Thursday, he had several printouts of Prison Planet articles and was handing them out in the locker room.
He doesn't strike me as fundie, but he's likely a different breed of crazy person.
If you don't believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster then keep your opinion to yourself, don't start a war telling Pastafarians what they believe is false, its absurd.
Yeah, that makes just about as much sense.
"...don't start a war telling Christians what they believe is false, its absurd."
And it would be fundie assholes firing the first bullets.
This Board has turned into the shallowest group of fundie atheists I have ever come into contact with. Instead of pointing out the fundamentalism and danger of this statement the atheist fundies on this very board (fstdt) consistently attack his religion and ridicule him for his belief and are sure they have all the answers. WTF?? Thats fundamentalism in a nutshell. I used to come here to see the crazy things that fundies say. I never knew the comments section would prove to be the most outrageous set of atheist fundies on the net. This does not apply to all that post here. However, you know who you are, and if you want to attack someone's views then do it on the base that they are a close minded fundamentalist and are not open to other options. You atheist's make fools of yourselves when you combat a fundie statement with a fundie statement. That is all I have to say.
PhoenixRising: "You atheist's make fools of yourselves when you combat a fundie statement with a fundie statement."
Wha???? I don't get it. I've read all the comments above yours three times and can't identify a single "fundie" statement among them. Maybe it's because I'm not wearing my jesus goggles. So could you please explain WTF you're talking about????????????
I'm sorry but this qualifies for the "don't call me an idiot, you idiot" award!PS Phoenix. I read the entire thread at Prison Planet and this genraider has no compunction about attacking other's beliefs, but whines hypocritically when his own are attacked. I have no sympathy for that kind of person.
@PhoenixRising
What constitutes fundie?
- Absolute belief in own belief.
- Will to back said belief up with violence.
- Big-mouthed attacks on non-believers.
On the first, I would say posters on FSTDT as rather humble, pointing out the flaws of fundie arguments rather than making absolute claims on their own.
On the second, most people here come across as pacifists. (Possibly with one glaring exception.)
On the third, we may be guilty, but that's mostly just meant as downright jokes.
Sorry, there, Phoenix Rising, but reason, logic and civil discussion of issues do not seem highly effective against fundies. In the real world, if you can't take it, don't dish it out.
Hey, PhoenixRising, a few tips:
1) Get a sense of humour. A lot of the comments here are dripping with sarcasm.
2) Learn what "fundie" means. Very few FSTDTers rail against Christians solely for being Christians. I mean, how often do we attack Sandman or Sophie?
3) Please get off the "all FSTDTers are militant atheists" bandwagon. We're not, and most of us are actually very tolerant.
In closing, I'd like to say that if you're more offended by generally reasonable comments than by the "convert or shut up" mentality of the OP, then maybe you need to re-evaluate your position.
Hey guys, if we're gonna have our own idiotic little troll, I at least wish he'd learn how to use proper spelling and grammar. (I do realise they probably haven't covered that yet, seeing as he's in the 'special' class in his 8th grade.)
"Your so predictable"- NO NO NO. It is YOU'RE in that case, not "your". Haven't we been over this before? It is a contraction of "you are"!
*sigh* I guess you can't teach the unteachably stupid.
296329, perhaps you missed the memo, a lot of the people overhere are Christians, just not fundie-flavor.
"Well, I happen to be a Christian, so I'm not really qualified to respond to this, but I have several athiest friends.
I called up Patrick and asked him what his response was. He said "We will if you will.""
You know, I got the same response from my friend.
@PhoenixRising:
Gee, Mr. Freakng Wizard, are you seriously surprised that when you post bullshit, someone actually says, "Hey, that's bullshit!"?
If one has ridiculous beliefs and choses to post them on the Internet, what should be the response? Congratulate them for their amazing intellect, or ridicule them for their ridiculous posting? For too long religion has had this privileged, unquestionable position of "you can't say anything about that, it's their religion". When people could KEEP THEIR OPINIONS/BELIEFS TO THEMSELVES, that might have been possible. Now with religious zealots wanting to force their beliefs onto everyone else, passing laws that affect everyone, sorry, it's not possible to remain silent.
Confused?
