Shouldn't a christmas play take place on christmas? Just curious, but if you're trying to do things with your holiday that isn't even on the day itself, then you have no right to argue this point. Muslims are in the middle of a holy period to them, and you're not even close to yours. Unless you celebrate advent, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say you don't. Unsurprisingly, the US fundies fave British newspaper (the daily mail) didn't bother with informing their readers that the play that they moved was a panto.... from what i gathered the nativity play will still be done before Christmas.
This story is about ONE school on Nottingham, England that has postponed the "Christmas play" (one report I read said that the play was in fact a pantomime and not a Nativity play ) as a lot of the chldren are Muslim and will not actually be in school on that day as they are given two days off school for their own religious festival.
Religious worship is allowed in public schools here unlike in the USA ,which I think has had the ironic effect of making religion less important than it sometimes appears to be considered in the US

If it's not a religious play, which it doesn't seem to be in spite of the skewed way these people are looking at it, not moving the date would be essentially taking away students' chance to participate or watch the play simply because of their religion. Schools have to consider what will be fair to students, not what whingy Christians call persecution because they've never experienced real persecution in their lives.
If the majority of the school was Christian and something was scheduled on a Christian holiday accidentally, not that that would happen because Christians won't shut up so everyone knows when their holidays are, the school would probably move the date for that too.
