Rep. Steve King of Iowa said he doesn’t understand how American Jews can be “Democrats first and Jewish second” and support President Obama’s approach to Israel.
“Well, there were some 50 or so Democrats that decided they would boycott the president’s speech. One thing that’s happened is — just look at the polling, that means — here is what thing that I don’t understand, I don’t understand how Jews in America can be Democrats first and Jewish second and support Israel along the line of just following their president,” said the Iowa Republican on Boston Herald radio Friday, asked about members of Congress who did not attend Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress earlier in the month.
“And it’s all — it says this, they’re knee-jerk supporters for the president’s policy. The president’s policies throughout the Middle East have been a disaster. I would say to them, name a country where we have better relations today than we had when Barack Obama took office?’ And I gave that in speeches in about six weeks until some lad stood up and said, ‘I can name you two, they are Cuba and Iran.’”
Asked if anti-Semitism was a factor, he said it was a component along with “just plain liberalism.”
“I see it growing. I’m amazed to see this happen. It’s a phenomenon that I did not expect to see in post-World War II, the revulsion of what I saw. But anti-Semitism is a component of this and just plain liberalism is another component. I mean the president wants the world to be, he thinks somehow he can force the world can be the world he myopically believes it is. You have to be a realist.”

There were Jewish people for centuries before the modern day nation of Israel was established. Many of them had deep roots in whatever nation they were living in, and had no desire to abandon that for a foreign land. Besides, shouldn't you be happy that an ethnic group overwhelmingly considers itself American first over a foreign nation they've never even been to?
So now we're clear that intelligence is not a factor when Iowans vote.
Under the Dina de-Malkhuta, Jews are required to obey the laws and pay the taxes of the country they live in. Therefore, while support for Israel may be a theoretical imperative among American Jews, interest in the American government is actually important for protecting their families and themselves.
And it also true Jews do not have a Pope. Just dragging over Bibi to make one of the more tarded speeches in recent history will not automatically convince American Jews to overlook the Republicans' long history of anti-semitism and start thinking Ron Paul is their guy.
Most Jews support the existence of Israel, partly from conviction and partly because many have family living there. That is not the same as: a) supporting whoever happens to be the current head of government; or b) voting as Americans on American issues.
As far as American Jews are concerned, Barack Obama is the president of their country. Had it been a Republican president disagreeing with a left-wing Israeli PM, with whom they would have had more common ground, you'd have accused them of being disloyal and Unamerican.

Then there's France, India, Nigeria... just little countries like those.
But anti-Semitism is a component of this and just plain liberalism is another component.
But there's nothing anti-Semitic in saying how disappointed you are in the Jews for disagreeing with you and not understanding their role as fodder for Armageddon.
Maybe its because Bibi is a rotten shit who's probably a big reason that Hamas is still a thing. Hell, Both Bushes told the Israeli government, that while they would support them, Israel should not annex the Gaza strip or the West Bank. It isn't a Rep/Dem issue, its an issue of Israel ignoring treaties.
"The president’s policies throughout the Middle East have been a disaster."
You're damn right. The idiot invaded Iraq looking for mythical WMDs and destabilized the whole region!...Oh, wait...
Actually the whole Middle East is a disaster. I'm not sure I can identify any specific "policy" that has mattered a whole lot. I'm always fascinated by the fact that conservatives seem to think that Obama controls everything in the world.
"...name a country where we have better relations today than we had when Barack Obama took office?"
It's a mixed bag as usual. Go here to see changes in attitude toward the US.

Granted this is the population and not the government but it's probably close enough. Too bad idiots like King can't do a little research before spouting off.
Fuck you, Steve King.
I never liked you, but now I have reason to hate you. You are so blinded by Zionist jingoism that you are willing to refer to Zionist Jews who don't toe the line with you (eg. me) as anti-Semites.
Go fuck yourself with a rusty cactus.
Has anything even remotely smart or useful or cool ever come out of Iowa? And why hasn't the real Stephen King sued this ass bucket into oblivion for tarnishing his name? In between putting his teabagging Maine governor back in his place, that is.
Fuck Bibi, & fuck you too.
@The Crimson Ghost
Iowa was one of the first states to legalize gay marriage. The second one I believe, and the first, California, later repealed it.
You would expect California to be on the front line of something like this. Iowa came from out of left field basically. It is very significant though because it demonstrated that the broader American society is more open to marriage equality than it was a decade earlier. It's a sign that if opposition to it isn't a lost cause yet, it does have one foot in the grave at least.
After reading your first sentence, Steve, I only have this to say. There are also a lot of Christians in the United States who don't support the radical right's actions (aka the Republican party these days). To say that all Jews should support the Israeli government's actions is like saying all Muslims should support the Taliban's actions. Oh, but you believe they do, don't you? Ignoramus.
"Rep. Steve King of Iowa said he doesn’t understand how American Jews can be “Democrats first and Jewish second” and support President Obama’s approach to Israel. "
Rep Steve King of Iowa doesn't understand traditional American values, so no surprise there.

Maybe Jewish Americans support the Democrats because they know that Republicans only support Israel because they think Jesus is going to show up there soon.
I would say to them, name a country where we have better relations today than we had when Barack Obama took office?’ And I gave that in speeches in about six weeks until some lad stood up and said, I can name you two, they are Cuba and Iran.’”
You say that as if having better relations with our enemies is a bad thing.
The United States has had better relations with Cuba and Iran after Barack Obama took office.
If this happened under a Republican President, they'd call it a goddamn miracle. He'd be the guy who saved the world and ushered in peace and brought together two countries who've hated each other for years.
I think the Antichrist thing has caused fundamentalist Christians and Muslims and Jews to actively campaign against the concept of world peace because that is a harbinger of the AC, and perhaps nothing is more fucked up than that. Sorry if OT.
"I don’t understand how Jews in America can be Democrats first and Jewish second"
Steve. If someone said they were muslims first and democrats/republicans/americans second you and fox news would be screaming like someone fed your dog to a woodchipper in front of you.
Hypocrites of the highest order.
"The Republican party stands for the exceptionalism of America and our independence of country, state and individual freedom!"
Then fawn over the fucking Israely prime minister in what Jon Stewart rightfully tagged as "the longest blow job a Jewish man has ever got." 8 minute standing ovation at the beginning,10 at the end, like the second coming of Elvis or something for talking the same shit he said ten years ago AND WAS COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT STILL. Fucking disgraceful fawning, toadying subservience. Respect is one thing this WAS a fucking blow job AND swallow. Add this to their Putin worshipping and you really might as well have rent signs on your backs. Total whores.
Confused?
