You know, if i tried to convince someone to enlist in the Navy, i told them the benefits. Stuff i found beneficial or fun. If asked, I’d tell them the bad parts, too. There’s always bad parts.
Same for anyone seeking employment at my company, or in my unit. Or any contractor of our Strategic Weapon System.
I cannot for the life of me understand people always, always, always threatening. “Better join the Navy or you’ll never get to march in veteran parades!”

“If you don’t enlist, you’ll never get half the jokes in Stripes.” Saw that movie in a theater when it came out. We were in Norfolk, VA. The audience was about 80% military. About half the jokes, we all laughed and a civilian in front of me keptlooking around wondering what was so funny.
