[on child molesting priests]
there may be more yet to be removed as claims are brought, but let's face it folks. 2% of the US priesthood is not a large percentage

LIKE HELL IT ISN'T. 1 OUT OF 50 PRIESTS IS A CHILD MOLESTER? THAT'S WAY HIGHER THAN I THINK ANY OF US THOUGHT. BABY MOSES.

I mean seriously, imagine a class of children. 25 students on average here in Canada, I'd say. When one child per two classes will grow up to MOLEST CHILDREN, that's a high percentage. ESPECIALLY IN A SITUATION OF PROFESSED CELIBACY AND "MORAL VALUES FROM THE BIBLE". Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa *spins in circles*
Edit: Not to mention the fact that the Church does a heck of a lot of cover-ups. I cringe to imagine how much of a multiplier that is. I'M GLAD I WAS NOT RAISED IN CHURCH.
Deimos, It was readable and pretty well written so it can be acceptable.
PirateFaafy, do calm down a bit.
I can't believe I'm saying 'think of the children' without trying to be ironic.
They're supposed to trust adult in general, and their priest in particular. That damage spreads further than the individual kids they take advantage of. There's also the issue that one priest doesn't typically stick to traumatizing one choir boy. When one of those sick shits gets a taste of power over someone that believes them when they say the assraping is God's punishment and tattlers go to Hell they pull it as often as they can. When it's discovered they get moved to a new location to save face for the faith and start all over again until enough kids come home with rectal bleeding to spark another inquiry to bury.
The argument isn't that: as people, how likely priests are likely to molest. The arguement is: Do the churchs hide such activity? They do, proven, over ALL denominations. Therefore we're only seeing a small part subjected to the laws of state.
Confused?
