[Monogomous] marriage is the same thing you think it is for me, except a legal agreement, not something ordained by some sky fairy.
Evolution is not a "your happiness is secondary to raising babies" decree. That's why the world has the church.
You do not understand the atheist mindset. Stop trying to connect with other groups of people to strengthen your bigotry.
Is that English?
I fail to see how gender-neutral marriage laws can affect these people so much. Nobody is forced to marry a person of the same sex!
Nobody is forced to marry anyone, come to think of it...
Not all homosexuals are atheists, you know. The ones who are Christians want to celebrate their love with a church wedding, too.
Not all Christians hate homosexuals.
If the sole purpose of a person in society is breeding, then you might have a point about homosexuals being stripped of rights for not increasing the population. But, luckily, the belief that only purpose of a person in society is to make more people is a logical dead end so profound that I could only hope to find something like it from a site discussing theology.
Oh, and marriage as an institution is more or less a constant across cultures and across religions, existing currently as a secular institution within the Western world as a matter of fact. It does not have origins in a given religion, and no given religion can claim rights to it.
PLEEEEEAAAASE! Learn! To! Fucking! Punctuate!
Thank you!
Anyway, as an atheist I for one AM interested in marriage. To a woman. Not a man. But it doesn't matter. Gay people and atheists should be able to do whatever they fucking please, so butt the fuck out.
“mhm gay marriage is not a right”
You are incorrect, sir.
“marriage is a religious thing”
There are religious rituals connected to marriage. And you don’t have a RIGHT to a Catholic marriage, but if the State licenses OSMs, they need a secular reason to discriminate against SSMs.
“your yourself being a atheist should have no want for anything to do with marriage”
It makes certain things easier, like financial proxy, medical proxy, the ability to pick my kids up from school, registering a legal proxy, and so on.
“you being a atheist should know that homosexaulity makes those people not causing population so they should deserve no rights....”
No, being an atheist does NOT force me to be a self-centered shithead.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
