That might be the best reason for a church to be funded by Taxes to a degree, you could then demand transparency of the money uses. If your churches indeed do this.
Anyone from Britain that can show the church of England using these taxes for the better good? Are they monitored on these funds?
Because you give them money in America the priests live better. Period. You give them lots of money they build big fuck off megachurches, a mansion and a summer home. You give them more they buy foreign homes and jets to get there.
The amount of money given to churches, through parishioners, charity CLAIMS and government subsidies in America would give everyone health care and double social services. See that happening, of course not.
The Taxes they don't pay may not count if they did even as it's probably calculated that the public taxes are adjusted to account for their free ride HOWEVER if our taxes stayed the same AND they taxed them, even a little, say 5%, Billions would be recovered.
Megachurch preachers make millions in personal income, untaxed. they're very likely tax free on their mansions too. With how many of these sick cons there are in Americas South it's no wonder many of those states are in the hole perpetually.
There's been attempts to correct this periodically, there definitely should be a point where tax free stops and taxes are applied but they lobby it out, with taxpayers money yet.
