"I always thought that the delusion would be far more sophisticated - elaborate. Could it really be this stupid?"
The latest series of "Torchwood" completely bypasses that - by making all the existing people (bar one, Capt. Jack) immortal.
...ah, but then, that concept completely bypasses the whole point of religion. If everyone already has eternal life without spiritual Salvation. But what about the whole 'Millennium of Christ's Reign', and how you think that you will be Earth's rulers? How would you enforce that rule, if you couldn't kill anyone? (Terrorists would be fucked, then!) And would this be Heaven or Hell on Earth? Aye, there's the rub...!
But then, Sci-Fi - like "Torchwood" - is fiction. The clue's in the name of the genre: 'Science Fiction'. As is Zombie Fiction.
As the Bible also is.

The stupidest delusion of them all. The ultimate irony being that you already are deluded, but that delusion is masked by another delusion you're already in, up to your spiritual eyeballs. But a fragile, membrane-thin delusion that can be destroyed extremely easily. You'd better not read further, if you value your 'faith', madNheaven:
The word 'Rapture'; the very basis of your esc(h)atology. Look through your Bible. Search for 'Rapture'. Better still, use the search facility of this online Bible: http://bible.cc/ . Go ahead:
http://bible.cc/search.php?q=Rapture
You're not going to like the result(s); certainly in relation to your escatology. Oh, and while you're there, I suggest you look up Revelation 22:18-19. Isn't taking a word in the Bible, and making it relate to something completely different, contravening those two rules in the Bible? Thus you're going to Hell.
