Think about it. No one alive has seen George Washington, how do we know he was real and not a myth created by our ancestors? In addition we have the testimonies of the changed lives over the centuries. How many today say their life was changed by George washington?

No one alive has met Abraham Lincoln. How do we know he's real, besides the historical record and countless documents?
Are there any equally ncontrovertible proofs of Jesus' existence, besides the account in the four Gospels?.. Do the research.
Why do these people always have to use Washington to make this kind of point ??? It hurts.
Aside from the scientifically verifiable evidence that a man named George Washington lived and died in those times (the kind of evidence you just don't have for Jesus) there are many stories told about the life of George Washington in order to amaze and inspire people into emulating such a great man. The trouble is, it's widely agreed today that most of these stories are complete baloney.
The 'I cannot tell a lie' story for example, a great story about the importance of honesty. Beautiful story, shame it's a lie. That tale and many others are believed to be the handy work of a pastor named Mason Locke Weems. The idea is that Weems saw the need America had for an iconic hero and decided to embellish the life story of Washington, turning him into some kind of mythical figure in order to give the people what they needed and make a nice profit for himself.
So what have we got ?? A bunch of inspiring but completely untrue stories made up by a pastor in order to 'give people hope' and of course make a little money off of them. Yeah, I'd hold off on the comparisons to Jesus if I were you.
“Think about it.”
Why? You haven’t.
“ No one alive has seen George Washington, how do we know he was real and not a myth created by our ancestors?”
Historians have found a wealth of corroboration of his existification. He isn’t ONLY mentioned in one book.
“In addition we have the testimonies of the changed lives over the centuries."
I have seen many lives ‘changed’ through belief. People who give up smoking or alcohol will talk about their life being changed. People who become vegan, too. People who change jobs, or retire, or move out of state. Marriage, Divorce, adoption, getting a cat, learning about jazz.
None of this is significantly different from people who adopt a new religion.
“How many today say their life was changed by George washington?”
Is that a requirement for proving he’s real or for beatifying him as a saint?
Confused?
