Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire. Atheists believe the only consequence to actions in life is if you get caught or at the very worst, guilt. People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me. It's worse than racism.

Right. So what's that about the Crusades again? Can you tell us what the Pilgrims thought of killing all those Native Americans? Maybe you can explain this to all our troops overseas, who have to kill people regularly. They must be atheists, all of them, right?
Doesn't sound like these Christians are all that nobler than these atheists you're talking about. Sounds like you believe the only consequence to actions in life is when, not if, you get caught by God.
Let me rephrase your post so it's more accurate:
Fundies believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire, unless the people they're killing are homosexuals, abortionists, liberals, Canaanites, or just anyone whom God doesn't like at the moment. Reasonable people, atheist or no, believe that there we should do the right not out of fear of punishment, but because we have an innate morality and we do not want other people to suffer. People who have an absolute hatred of mass groups like Muslims, liberals, or anyone not "saved," as a whole scare me. It's worse than racism -- which, by the way, how's that whole justifying slavery and banning interracial marriage with the Bible coming?
I still wonder how these people fail to see that atheists are aware that there are others, others much like them simply trying to live. That idea right there is the basis of atheist 'morality' if you'd like to call it that.
Even still, not seeing why killing someone is wrong is not the same as hating them.
Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire.
Unless, of course, you just say you're doing it for god, because that's perfectly okay apparently.
Don't forget the consequence of the killed person being dead and gone forever. That's a pretty bad consequence.
Also what's with the non sequitor about hatred?
Cat_Byte seems to believe the only reason not to harm people is fear of punishment and Christians are therefore better-behaved because they believe they will be smacked harder. I suppose it makes sense, that Christians who consider God their Father and themselves His children would have a morality thought suitable for children. Oh, but children can be such vicious creatures when they feel they can get away with it.
Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire.
Unless God tells you to, in which case, have at it!
Atheists believe the only consequence to actions in life is if you get caught or at the very worst, guilt.
Most of us can think beyond the consequences to just ourselves, thanks.
People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me. It's worse than racism.
Can't be worse than racism, because racism is a subset of "absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole". And hatred of a particular religion is still more justifiable than racism because at least religion is something you can choose about yourself. (That's like saying that Mao was a better leader than Stalin, though - not much of a compliment.)
"People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me. It's worse than racism."
Gee, I dunno. You don't seem to be too fond of those atheist folks...
And I agree with Napoleon. If the only thing that keeps you from killing is fear of punishment, you have a problem.
I completely agree, Cat_Byte. Mob mentality is pretty frightening on its own, but combined with hatred and bigotry? Really bad stuff.
Don't know how that relates to your first two sentences, though.
Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire.
So, the only thing holding you back from killing every single person you see is fear of eternal punishment? That you even have this desire in the first place, but are suppressing it out of fear?
For crying out loud, for your average person, the fear of punishment isn't what prevents them from committing crimes, it's lack of justification! And for an atheist, it's pretty damn hard to convince yourself that you are better than someone else or that they are deserving of whatever you do to them on tangible, logical, and worldly matters alone. But if you think you've got God's approval on your side, psh, that trumps everything, and you can do whatever the hell you want without guilt!
"Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire."
Is that why Fundies seem to usually support the death penalty and GWB's war-mongering policies?
"Atheists believe the only consequence to actions in life is if you get caught or at the very worst, guilt."
And, that's more than enough to keep us honest.
"People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me."
Me, too, including those who hate people of other religions or, the scariest, those who hate all atheists.
"It's worse than racism."
No, it's equal to racism.
Even if your argument was true, which it isn't;
What is the difference between a pseron not comitting a murder because they fear consequencs from God in the afterlife, or a person refraining from killing to avoid the consequences of the law?
I fail to see any difference between the two.
People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me.
I wonder how Cat feels about gays, Muslims, feminists, liberals, democrats, etc.?
Wrong! Christians believe they can kill, rape, steal, etc. and still get a free pass to heaven so long as they profess belief in jeeeeeezus.
Just tell me the difference between Christian ethics, to be caught by God and punished, and the Atheist one(sarcasm). Man, can you stop overbooking pot and kettle?. And talking about racism........he needs a vocabulary class(unless she´s a troll)
Funny, the only ones I see with an absolute hatred of any mass group are fundies, who seem to hate Muslims, gays, atheists, liberals and many other groups.
And Christians believe that hell is for those that don't believe, not for those who kill. You can kill as many people as you want as long as you repent before you die.
Fear of punishment is really primitive morality. Mature adults, including atheists, usually go by altruism and the Golden Rule. Mature adults can also understand that racism is hatred of a mass group. Ergo, fundies are not mature adults. Thanks, Kitty.
If Christian morality has to be based on whether I'll suffer eternally if I do bad things, so I'd better do GOOD things out of nothing but fear...I'll stick with my personal morality that lets me do good things simply because I consider them good, and some sky fairy doesn't affect that.
The whole "Do good and go to Heaven, do bad and go to Hell!" crap fundies spew is just the ultimate example of not taking responsibility for yourself. After all, why be responsible when some mythical guy who died but has no records outside of bible can be responsible FOR you?
Wait: by this logic, most atheists are better morally than Christians. Christians who do good deeds do it based on hope of a reward, heaven. Atheists do it, not expecting any reward. Who is the better person?
As many pointed out, Christians, especially born again, believe they can erase every evil act.
Worse, they believe every evil act they recanted for can be repeated, until they die.
It's actually their excuse for, well, everything
“People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me.”
Really?
So up above, where you lump ALL atheists together with a single outlook, that’s not hating a mass group?
I mean, you’re Christain, so i expect hypocrisy, but usually it takes two paragraphs…
Confused?
