if you read the context, the guy was misquoted. he was trying to say that christianity only goes back 2000 years, and that paganism is much older. granted, he's still an idiot no doubt, just not a fundie.

Yeah, because history only goes back 3000 years. Forget that Hinduism and other pagan religions are AT LEAST 10,000 years old. Animistic beliefs go back even farther. So yeah, judeism (sic) is the first religion at 3000 years old, in fantasy land, that is.
I think he's just trying to say that Christianity isn't as old as some of its followers would like it to be. He's not fundie at all.
Or.. well.. that might have been what he meant. He doesn't seem too smart, but I'm still sure he isn't fundie.

Aboriginal beliefs date back at least 40,000 years. Also, proving religion isn't as old as the earth doesn't prove anything other than religion came about due to humans evolving enough of an intellect for it.

I think what his addled brain means is that there weren't any monotheistic religions before (sic)judeism. and that somehow polytheistic religions are somehow...not religions?
