In classic Wiccan mythology, the moon is often considered a symbol of the "Triple Goddess", and is often revered as if it was her, even though if you were to ask, 99% of Wiccans would answer that they know it's a big chunk of rock in space that reflects sunlight.
Moon worship is often seen in some paganism, too. Sometimes as a goddess, and in Asatru, as a (male) god, and sometimes just as a force of nature.
I worship a moon-Goddess (sort of) and I don't feel like killing anybody.

I'm far more afraid of Christians than I am Muslims, because I live in a country where Christians are trying to and in some places succeeding at writing their religious beliefs and convictions into the nominally secular law. I don't see Muslims doing that in this country.
