@Je suis Christ
Obama is the son of marxist Frank Marshall Davis. He is clearly a bad person, but he is not Antichrist.
He is a bad person because of who his father is (allegedly)? Wow, I didn’t think Sippenhaft was still a thing
Forget it, I just saw your post #1800328. You are trying too hard, scale it back a bit if you want to troll successfully. This is a 2/10, max.
@#1800311:
This is the quote in its entirety:
As I recall, C.S. Lewis worked hard to convert J.R.R. Tolkien to Christianity, but I believe Tolkien remained a Catholic. Of course, labeling oneself a Catholic does not, by itself, mean one is not truly saved and regenerated, but it should at least give us pause to consider whether Tolkien truly repented, believed the Gospel, and placed his trust in Christ alone vs. joining a work-based religious system. I don't know.
There is much good in the LOTR trilogy (I read the series along with The Hobbit every August and am approaching 40 readings), but to look too much for Christian symbolism is a bit perilous. There are elements of Middle-Earth's creation (in The Silmarillion) that parallel Biblical creation and there are some other similarities, but that's it.
On the flip side, there are those who pan the LOTR as full of occultism and black magic, akin to Harry Potter. That is equally ludicrous.
The books are works of fantasy and should be treated as such. Incredibly well-written and rich in history and depth, but still...to preach a sermon...?
Which part do you think would change the meaning of the first sentence?
