Cutting [self mutilation] is without a doubt demonic. That is “ man in the tombs” stuff. There is no doubt at all that is demonic. Does that mean the person who cuts himself or herself are possesses with devils or is that person just tormented by demons? It could be either. That is something that must be judged individually. Frankly it doesn’t matter. The cure is the same. Jesus sets people free from devils. The cure is the cross no matter what. I would just point such a person to Jesus with full confidence that he can cure whatever is wrong here.

Cutting is a symptom of depression most often seen in clinically depressed, young women. The cure is not the cross. The "cure" is often medications and/or psychiatric counselling.
I think it's time for a group chorus of "If you don't know what you're talking about, shut up."
THE SONG (pulled forth, once more, from the grave!):
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, shut up!
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, shut up!
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, and you really want to shout it out,
If you don't know what you're talking 'bout, SHUT UP!
As much as I want to laugh at the concept of Fundies vs. Emos, this is a serious issue. If you want to help these poor, dumb kids, Jesus ain't the answer. Get them some psychiatric help, get them some medication, and replace all of their Linkin Park CDs with Muppet Show songs.
Not devils, but depression. I did that when I was a youn teenager, before anyone heard of 'emo' or anything else. I didn't know whay I did it, but I most certainly didn't want people to KNOW about it. I rememebr wearing long sleeved shirts in the summer. Long time ago, since I am quite the old bat now and I have long since figured out what led t that behavior. Trust me, it wasn't Satan.
While I understand that self mutilation is a symptom of deeper problems, to blame it on devils and say finding Jesus is the cure is typical fundie clap-trap.
*sigh* Why does cutting have to be associated with emo music? They aren't related at all. I'm sure a good chunk of emo people cut, but the majority that cut/have cut in the past wouldn't be classifiable as emo...
Anyway... yeah, Jesus isn't the answer. From my experience Jesus made things a lot worse. Being told that Jesus hates you and you must be possessed by demons really doesn't help matters.
My younger brother slashed his wrists and cut himself when he was in high school. He does drugs, deals weed, and smokes too much, but one thing he is *not* is religious or "possessed" by any of your silly demons.
He needs to take his medicine, not your religion.

Aha! Proof that "insufficient Jesus" is the cause of all problems in the world!
This is another one of those self-proving hypotheses. Got problems? Turn to Jesus. Still have problems? You must not have really given your soul to Jesus. If you had, your problems would be gone. If they aren't gone, it's a problem with you, not the cure.

No offense was meant by my comment, but I do have kind of a knee-jerk reaction to joking about emo kids. It's nothing malicious; I just get a kick out of making them see how silly they are.
But why do I (and a lot of people) associate self-mutilation with emos? Well, it's probably for about the same reason I associate "fundie retardedness" with "Christians." Not all self-mutilaters are emo, and not all fundies are Christian, but the majority of the ones I've been exposed to are.
Flagellation is the act of whipping (Latin flagellum, "whip") the human body. Specialised implements for it include rods, switches and the cat-o-nine-tails. Typically, whipping is performed on unwilling subjects as a punishment; however, flagellation can also be submitted to willingly, or performed on oneself, in religious or sadomasochistic contexts.
Yeah, I'm sure a guy who was whipped, beaten, starved, deprived of drink, hung in the sun by spikes driven through his hands and feet, and eventually run through with a sword is the perfect one to talk you down from injuring yourself. Self Flagellation? Harming oneself to be closer to god? Experiencing the pain of your saviour? Any of this ringing a bell?
Well, I stopped self-injuring a year and a half ago (and am damn proud of it, thank you), and the cure was therapy and determination. Did I just miss the part where Jesus flew down from his magical palace in the sky to drive me to therapy and throw my razors away?
OH NOOES, I'M POSSESED BY A DEMON!
Oh, wait, no, just clinicly depressed. Nice one, starchaser.
I didn't self-mutilate while fighting depression, but I seriously considered it. Since this was before I became an athiest, I also begged god to help me. (sounds of crickets)
Jesus didn't help me, even though the bible says all you have to do is ask.
Medication did.
