I believe the Rocky Mountain States and Southern States should secede from the Union, thereby establishing a new Nation united by common religion, language, and morals. Furthermore, I favor the Leadership of a Christian Dictator, who would guide society back onto the path of Righteousness. Well, so do I. At least, I would like to put all you fundie fuckers somewhere by yourselves. Since I live in the South, if you do make the Southern States a Christian Dictatorship, just give me enough time to get the hell out. While I am an athiest, I don't agree with all liberalism (I'm more libertarian). I certainly couldn't stand living under your idea of government. It's bad enough just living in the midst of the Bible Belt. I am Southern born and bred and love living here as far as region goes. But before I would live under a Christian regime, I would not only leave the South, but the country if need be to escape you. But I would do everything I could to keep this from happening.
Of course, I realize this has got to be a troll. The ideas espoused are just to stupid for it not to be, not to mention the [smiley] at the end.
"Furthermore, I favor the Leadership of a Christian Dictator, who would guide society back onto the path of Righteousness."
It's usually a bad idea to have a dictator, hence the stigma the word has attatched to it. It's probably an especially bad idea to have one that is a religious fundamentalist.
Just give Christians New Mexico, nothin is in there anyways. I hate NM because they wasted $1 at a musilm of a wax body. After a few years the Christians will have developed a stone-age society rules by animal sacerfices and they will the the target of Islamian terrorists, not US.
Wouldn't the bible belt be a better choice? 90% are nuts there, thats even more than the number of people that supported going to war! We could have a Civil War reanactment for all the 7th/8th graders!
<<< I believe the greatest level of freedom is achieved only when people exercise their freedom for the benefit of the Nation. >>>
Straight out of 1984 , that. Redefining freedom to mean "freedom to do what I say" ... that's Newspeak to a T.
If you were to leave, you know what my answer would be? Good riddance. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. (Then again, I'm fortunate enough not to be in the Rockies or the South.)
"I believe the Rocky Mountain States and Southern States should secede from the Union, thereby establishing a new Nation united by common religion, language, and morals."
Uh huh. That worked so well in the 1860s, didn't it?
"Furthermore, I favor the Leadership of a Christian Dictator, who would guide society back onto the path of Righteousness."
Yes, a dictator, that's a great idea. A dictatorship would be the best form of government for that especially devout kind of righteousness that involves persecuting and killing all those who disagree with Xianity.
"I believe the greatest level of freedom is achieved only when people exercise their freedom for the benefit of the Nation. (Individualism is an evil philosophy)."
So, a dictatorship is the best form of government for fostering freedom, eh? This must be the Fundie redefinition project in full swing.
"I hate Marxism, Feminism, and Liberalism. These ideologies must be destroyed. [Smiley]"
I guess under the righteous Xian dictator advocates of Marxism, Feminism and Liberalism who have to be killed lest they contaiminate the greater society. We must preserve the body. It's probably OK as long as we do it with a "smiley."
I thought we already had a xtian dictator in America?
"...thereby establishing a new Nation united by common religion, language, and morals."
So, everything our forefathers left England for? The opposite of what we founded our country on? Fucking sheep.
I don't think he's a troll. He's quite vocal at these forums, and has over 3,000 posts. He also made the "Educating the Next Generation" post which is a little ways down here on FSTDT.
It was deleted after I submitted it, but what I also thought was funny was that the paragraph starts out with "I am definitely a radical." Seems a bit more reactionary than radical in my opinion.
I believe the Rocky Mountain States and Southern States should secede from the Union, thereby establishing a new Nation united by common religion, language, and morals.
Oh don't try and pull that stunt again. Remember what happened the last time you tried to run away and pull a civil war?
Of course, I'll support your right to secede. Take all your little fundie friends, move to some whacko state in the Bibble Belt, and make it your own country. Then, do whatever the hell you want. We'll be taking bets on how long you last before falling apart in a bout of petty infighting over what your magic sky fairy really said.
Furthermore, I favor the Leadership of a Christian Dictator, who would guide society back onto the path of Righteousness.
In short, you want to return to the dark ages. That's what happened the last time there was a Christian dictatorship. Hey, here's an idea we'll just take away your computer, your house, and all your property. Then, we'll stick you in a smelly hovel and force you to perform backbreaking labor as a medieval serf under the watchful eye of a Christian who will be your dictator. You'll enjoy it, I trust.
(Question: Does Nazi Germany count as a Christian dictatorship? It was a dictatorship, and Hitler was a Catholic, but it wasn't run as a theocracy, so it may not count here.)
I believe the greatest level of freedom is achieved only when people exercise their freedom for the benefit of the Nation.
In other words, people are most free when they're forced to obey a dictator.
Actually, this "serve the Nation" idea is a little strange to me. What do they mean by the nebulous concept of "nation?" A country is made up of its inhabitants, and helping them is commendable. However, this nationalistic ideal seems to regard "the nation" as a conscious being itself who can receive assistance and needs or deserves to be "aided."
(Individualism is an evil philosophy).
Uh oh! You've run into a troubling paradox here. See, the majority of Americans believe that individualism is a good thing. In order to say that individualism is a bad thing, you must break free from the crowd and assert your own individuality, making yourself a hypocrite in the process. You can't condemn individuality without using it!
I hate Marxism, Feminism, and Liberalism. These ideologies must be destroyed.
So, you want to destroy the idea that women are people too, that the poor should be taken care of, and that you should have the right to spout this bullshit. You want a Christian dictatorship; how does this comment square with the fact that Jesus was a liberal communist?
Maronan: "In order to say that individualism is a bad thing, you must break free from the crowd and assert your own individuality, making yourself a hypocrite in the process. You can't condemn individuality without using it!"
That's an excellent point."

Just replace nation and country in the above quote with God or Jesus . That's why they like the idea so much, I guess.
what we founded our country on? Fucking sheep.
I knew the US founded on the ideals of free speech, freedom of religion, and pufuit of happineff, but I didn't realize "fucking sheep" was in there as well.
I hate Marxism, Feminism, and Liberalism. These ideologies must be destroyed.
and democracy.
He does have a point. Perhaps the worlds only superpower should be broken up. Let's redivide North America into new nations based on drainage basins. The Rio Grande and the Great Lakes make lousy borders.
Scotty
OK, I can sort of get it. Maybe not. Since they believe that God/Jesus is a real person/real people, they believe they can be served or assisted, though; do they believe a country to be a person too? Or do they simply support this idea because it sounds good and "preps" people for serving their supposed god?
As a Florida Jew, I say "Fuck off, Brent." Hitler already tried that one, and look where it got him.
Hey hey hey! Take Arizona or the Dakotas or something. I'm not giving up Florida without a fight... the fishing's too good, and I hate surfing in a wetsuit.
(Unless this new Christian dictatorship of yours is willing to pay for me to relocate to Hawaii. In that case, we can talk.)
Question, please. Why so great a distance between the two sites you would have all the fundies congregated in? Because as others have pointed out, theists can't even get along amongst themselves, much less with anyone else. Eventually, this division would lead to conflict, and place a great number of us just minding our own business in the middle.
Better to put all of you in the central region, say between the Mississippi and the Rockies. That way, when you've all destroyed each other, the rest of us won't have far to go from either side of the country to reclaim the former FUA (Fundie Utopia of America.)
That does it, moving back to Massachusetts where they have some sense. And beans.
*dances*
The Inquisition,
Here we go,
The Inquisition,
What a show,
We know you're wishin'
That we'd go away...
I would advise Mr Burnt.. (sorry, Brent)to look at the movie (or better, the comic/novella) V for Vendetta and see what might happen if his "dream" come true...
Fundamentalist governments will _not_ prevail... :D
Approved. Then the rest of us can get to work making a society without all that nonsense. And five years later, the rebel states will have nuked themselves into oblivion, or just run out of money, and will beg to rejoin.
Good luck with that. You're going to have a bit of a fight on your hands with New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, and Florida being decidedly purple and Colorado leaning well into the indigo. (Maybe Wyoming too, but I don't think anyone who doesn't actually live there has spent enough time away from the ski slopes to know anything about what goes on there.)
This is actually a very tempting proposition, except for the fact that they reproduce. At least as as things are now, we have a chance that some of the kids will see the light through exposure to public education and rational society. They at least have a chance to get away from their parents' insanity, which they couldn't if we let them secede. It was a lovely thought for a moment, though. ::sigh::
Lets see implications of Brents hatred:
(No) Individualism- so he wants to be mindless drone.
(No) Marxism- not only drone, but a drone that will work his ass off far beyond human endurance, for a lousy minimal pay and no healthcare.
(No) Feminism- he'll be all that, but the women around him will be even less, since they would have to take care of the house and children, as well as work in factories. They won't have voting abillity, unlike our mindless drone here.
(No) Liberalism- everybody with a different opinion on tradition would be looked on with contempt or freely attacked.
Doesn't sound so good now, Brent?
Yes, yes, Individualism is an evil philosophy, Freedom is Slavery, 2+2=5, haven't we all been over this before?
“I believe the Rocky Mountain States and Southern States should secede from the Union, thereby establishing a new Nation united by common religion,”
If all y’all are united by common religion, why do you need a dictator to guide society back where it should be?
But i doubt that the states in the Rockies will join Dixie. Too many survivalists who hate any government and any religion that’s not exactly their own. You might have contracts with individual city-states and survivalist campgrounds, but not a common border.
“(Individualism is an evil philosophy).”
Oh, well, there go the survivalists. They’d actually come down from the hills to vote against your little exercise.
“I hate Marxism, Feminism, and Liberalism. These ideologies must be destroyed. [Smiley]”
Thus preserving the very concept of freedom, huh?
Confused?
