God is the head of this nation and I think this is tough for some atheist and secularist to grasp.

We get our God given rights from our Creator and the government is set up as a secondary appendage to protect those God given rights but the government gets it's power from the people and not the other way around.
Your half right, the government does get it's power from the people and the people have recognized their natural human rights and have given the government charge to protect them. There is no need for a "god" there. The right's your god grants in your holy book's are frankly immoral and should be tossed aside.

From the concensus of the people. Among the right's granted by your "god" include the right to enslave those you see as lesser than yourself, and the right to impose death upon those who do not recognize your god or his "laws".
If there's no God, then you have no rights except those that other men want to give you.
Exactly, and people are less likely to remove the rights from others that they wish to enjoy themselves.
What I don't think you people realize is that by trying to remove the civil rights from those that do not kowtow to your religious ideals, you will open the door to others removing rights from yourself when others decide that maybe your denomination is sinful in the ever capricious eyes of your "god".
