Yeah. Jesus actually broke away from the holy text of the time and wasn't all about the fire and brimstone of the Old Testament, and they killed him. He didn't yell on street corners for everyone to stone all the sinners. Quite the opposite, actually.
"Hey, you know all that stuff about eternal damnation and killing things for God that we've been doing for the last few thousand years? Yeah, we're not going to do that anymore."

The definition we apply to fundamentalism has really little to do with its denotation or any religious meaning.
I would say Jesus was not a fundamentalist at all, even though he technically started his religion.
A better term might be 'fanatic' and 'fanaticism'
