You can rebel against the way God designed you and CHOOSE a sinful lifestyle of homosexuality; or possibly, you could be abused as a child and lose your sexual identity, which is no fault of your own; or you could be stuck in a stage of psychological growth which you never did overcome.

One of those stages has to do with sexual preference, when boys think that all girls have cooties, and girls think that boys have cooties, and they want nothing to do with others of the opposite gender. MOST people grow to the next stage, but some are stuck in that phase of their emotional or psychological growth.

As a kid, I wasn't so stupid as to believe anyone had "cooties". I'm a lesbian, and I've always known I liked girls. No one just wakes up and decides who they are attracted to, and no one can make you a certain sexual orientation.
Unfortunately what he's saying is the Freudian explanation of homosexuality...
Of course since psychoanalysis generally and Freud in particular is the modern psychology was Intelligent Design is to biology, that doesn't make the argument any more rational.
That's so stupid. Little boys don't hang out with little boys because they're sexually attracted to each other, and gay males have women friends. They aren't sitting around going "Ewww, women are gross!" They just aren't attracted to them. Sigh... I'm sure someone else can explain to you better than I can why your analogy makes no sense. I've had an OD of fundie stupidity for the moment.
Yeah...um...homosexuality isn't fear of girls. Hell, most gay guys happen to have a lot of close female friends. It is just that they don't have a desire to have sex with them. It has nothing to do with abuse, nothing to do with stunted psychological growth (if that were the case, they wouldn't have a desire to have sex with the same sex, but simply have no sexual urges at all). And, finally...you didn't answer the bloody question!
Ok, "cooties" is an American thingy, I have no idea what it is supposed to mean and trust me, there are gays outside USA too...
You know, either I was oblivious or people around me unconcerned, but somehow I managed to grow up without the issue of sexual orientation even occurring to me until it was brought to my attention at some point after arriving in this country. As a result I turned out sexually nondeterministic. Not even bi, as that implies being attracted to both genders to more or less the same extent. I would say I'm attracted to my own species in a very haphazard fashion. I see someone I like (above the age of consent), I hit on them. It never even occurred/occurs to me to note their gender.
So, there goes your theory. No one abused me. I never went through any cooties stage. I never even thought about choosing attraction. I kind of tend to like blondes though. Does that count?

BS! Many boys who turn out to be gay are the friendly, smart ones that are friends with girls; they aren't the ones in fear of female cooties.

being gay or lesbian doesn't mean they hate the opposite sex, it just means they aren't interested in having sex with them, as a female, I've found that most of the gay guys I've met have been nicer to me then many straight guys.
So, one day you decide that my husband(6' 2", three days bearded, stocky building blondish man) that you never thought in an erotic way suddenly is a hunk? Whatever
